I love depictions of "Lucifer falls in love with Lilith because she's beautiful and ethereal and unique," but what about "Lilith is messy and covered in dirt and has twigs and leaves stuck in her hair and has no makeup because there obviously wasn't any makeup during that time and has eyebags and looks like she just fought with 20 racoons after her latest fight with Adam, and Lucifer falls in love with her on the spot."

Lucifer is the guy who brings back bugs, dead critters and mud into the spotless immaculate symmetrical home that is Heaven, ofc it would make sense for him to fall immediately in love with the girl covered in mud who looks like a starved feral wildcat and will try to scratch his eyes out.

The most interesting question you can ask about any character is not what do they want. it's what do they believe they deserve. because those two things are almost never the same and the gap between them is where your entire story lives. a person can want love completely and believe they don't deserve it and that belief will destroy every good thing that comes toward them in ways they won't even notice they're doing. write the gap. the gap is the character.
