I wish I had the words to explain why I love him so much but honestly it’s a lot of

I love his quiet confidence and I love his monologue about “geniuses” and I love how he keeps his teammates in line without raising his voice and I love his commitment to his routines and I love how watching him immediately alleviates all the stress I’m carrying from the rest of the match.

Something that really struck me this time is how they bicker almost constantly, yet they still actively choose to hang out with each other even when they don’t have to.

(Kai’s usually there too. His patience is astounding. Thank goodness for Kai.)

These idiots!! I’d probably split them up so I can play with each duo and explore them a bit more in-depth than the anime gives us.

Some examples—

Tanaka and Hinata: I’d really like to delve into how Hinata routinely hides behind Tanaka when faced with bigger and scarier opponents. Having Tanaka between him and the other person clearly makes him feel safer, but how did it come about? How does Tanaka feel about it? And how does he feel later on, when he realizes Hinata isn’t getting scared anymore and has stopped coming to him for protection?

Tanaka and Kageyama: This could be literally anything, but I think I’d really like to lean into Kageyama’s communication issues and his history of being othered, and how that impacts his relationship with Tanaka specifically. Also how Tanaka chooses to handle that and his thoughts on Kageyama’s past treatment.

Hinata and Kageyama: This one I think would probably be about them both slowly realizing that the other is their best friend and neither of them know what to do with that information and they’re both like “I’d rather die than admit to it” because they’re both stupid and assume it’s one-sided and that they’re the weird one for seeing a rivalry and necessary partnership as an actual friendship. But also the other is the first person they want to tell about literally everything and anything, and that’s the person they want to have join them in doing things (eating lunch, practicing, studying, going to do things outside of school, etc.), and that’s the person who knows them better than anyone. So basically mutual platonic pining.

The besties <3 I can’t get over them afshfahts their friendship is incredibly precious to me and I just want them both to be happy.

I think I’d be more inclined to approach this from Todoroki’s pov and focus on Izuku as his first real friend, and later his first Best Friend. Probably would be angstier because the sheer panic in Todoroki’s voice when he yells “MIDORIYA” after Izuku does something stupid is eating my brain. That’s his bestie and he just got him so Midoriya can’t die yet.

3.

Something about their friendship scratches an itch in my brain and I need more. The crumbs I’ve been fed are not enough. They’re both “odd” socially in their own ways and I think they’d understand each other on a different level than most folks because of that.

Right now I’m thinking I’d like to revisit the whole “trapped in a dark place” situation from the OVA, but make it worse. Now I just have to figure out the logistics of how to make that happen XD Would definitely be more heavy on the Tokoyami angst than Todoroki angst, but it should still be a bad situation for both and they’ll have to lean on each other.

I have no explanation other than I have seen them next to each other in the background often enough that I came to the conclusion they must be friends. And I’m incredibly curious about what that dynamic would look like.

I don’t have any concrete ideas for what to do with them yet. Gotta microwave them a bit longer. Definitely thinking it’ll be more on the calm, just good vibes side though.

Listen Sero’s so freakin chill and Todoroki needs that kind of friendship in his life. It would do him so much good.

Again, nothing concrete yet. I’m not even decided on whether or not I wanna do angst. Probably would be a 50/50 bc I love angst, but also I want them to just be able to hang out and be friends and not be worrying about stuff, y’know? So like. Light angst.

fjskdfjsjfje there isn’t even a gif of them together. ANYWAYS. Kageyama and Asahi.

Just imagine with me. You’re Kageyama. All of your senpai in the past were horrible/never around. One of them even tried to hit you. And then here’s this guy who’s two years older than you and he towers over you and he’s the team’s ace, and—and he’s literally the kindest, most gentle person you’ve ever met. He’s nothing like what you’re used to. You yell at him once, without meaning to, after he was only trying to cheer you up. You expect anger, because that’s always been the response you get for as long as you can remember. And this giant of a man (who should be angry because you just disrespected him, and who could absolutely lay you out on the ground if he wanted to) just brushes it off and simply asks you to be a bit kinder in your wording next time.

LIKE. IF I WERE KAGEYAMA I’D BE SO CONFUSED????

Anyways I think the potential here is amazing and I don’t see near enough people talking about it.

For this one I think it could be fun to write the aftermath of the whole “Kageyama yells at Asahi” scene, because you can’t convince me Kageyama wouldn’t have gone to apologize after practice. He can be a little jerk sometimes, but he’s also very aware that that was too far, and he obviously felt bad. This, I think, would be lots of soft vibes because Asahi is going to be Asahi and he’s going to be understanding and gentle just like he always is, and Kageyama’s going to be confused because that’s not how this works???

Oh what could’ve been T-T

They can be so similar sometimes and it just kills me. Imagine tiny little Kageyama who thinks Iwaizumi is super cool and subconsciously starts to mimic him as he gets older. Imagine 14 year old Iwaizumi doing the best he can to encourage and protect this tiny little first-year setter without sending his best friend into a tailspin.

Honestly I’ve got so many things I want to do with them that I’m having trouble picking one to put here XD

• Junior High Fic - Probably takes place on a day when Oikawa’s out sick or something, but maybe not. You never know. Could be Iwa agreeing to help Kageyama out with something, or maybe sticking up for him. Like I said, I’ve got just a few ideas.

• High School Fic - Likely to be more of a bittersweet tone, a “what could’ve been, but isn’t because of the choices we both made” type of fic. I don’t think either of them has any ill-will towards the other, so it would be interesting to see their thoughts on where the other ended up.

This one’ll probably have to wait a while, since I still don’t know Hawks too well yet. But the shift from “You’re here because I need information, and also we’re both birds” to “I’m glad you’re the one that came to my agency” is really interesting and I’d love to explore Hawks’ thoughts in all of that once I’ve got a better idea of what makes him tick.

I’d also love to explore the internship + workstudy from Tokoyami’s POV because I’d imagine it’d be pretty hard to not be at least a little resentful, considering how things went the first time, and yet he went back anyway.

ANYWAYS. Those are some of the dynamics I’m rotating in my brain and hoping to eventually write fics for. Like I said, they weren’t really in any particular order, just the order I thought of them in.

More specifically, thinking about how much Yasuda absolutely adores this odd little first year with her hallucinogen quirk and abysmal self esteem, and how that leads to them becoming a family.

Like. He took one look at her and went “is anyone gonna adopt that kid?” And then ignored the fact that she has living parents. That’s his little sister now, no takebacksies.

They spent a singular week together for Aki’s internship, and he already gave her his personal phone number and walked her back to school and nearly had a panic attack when he found out about the villains crashing summer training camp and called her nearly once a day to check on her afterwards until Jumpscare told him to dial it back a bit.

She texts him that she got her provisional license and he immediately starts scheming how he’s going to get on campus to celebrate. (Jumpscare tells him in no uncertain terms that he is to refrain from breaking into UA. They’ll celebrate with her when things are calmed down if she isn’t able to come back to them for her work-study. Yasuda thinks Jumpscare is being a spoilsport, but behaves himself anyway.)

They find out Aki’s coming back and he immediately puts all of that energy into planning a little celebration and getting everything prepared for when she arrives. He meets her at the train station and she’s barely off the train before he’s got an arm around her shoulders and is ruffling her hair and welcoming her home back.

She uses her quirk on a villain for the first time during work-study and he’s so gosh darn proud that he takes her for ice cream on their way back to UA after patrol (he insists on escorting her, since it’s dangerous and Class 1-A students are being targeted and all that jazz).

He finds out Aki got an offer from Sano’s murderer and has a legit panic attack, not only because it’s Sano’s murderer and that’s traumatic, but also because “she would’ve been killed if we hadn’t made our offer” and that mixes with him being absolutely livid because “she would’ve been killed if we hadn’t made our offer.”

(He goes back to calling her every day after that one.)

He finds out later on that her parents have basically nothing to do with her because of her quirk, so she isn’t even going home for Christmas, and he subsequently gets caught by Jumpscare while making plans to kidnap her. (Jumpscare is on board with having her over for Christmas btw, but maintains that they have to do it legally, and no, Hirohito, we cannot just kidnap her from UA.)

(Yasuda maintains that Jumpscare is a spoilsport. Jumpscare ignores him and reaches out to Aizawa to see about having Aki come visit them for Christmas.)

(A few weeks later and Yasuda is waiting at the station, practically vibrating with anticipation. They only get her for one day, and they’re gonna make sure it’s the best Christmas she’s had in years.)

(When Aki sits down at her spot at the table for tea time with Yasuda and Jumpscare, she does not cry when she realizes the cup in front of her has a Japanese violet motif and her hero name written on the side.)

He and Jumpscare go to all of her school events and he meets her friends and makes mental notes to get in touch with as many of their mentors as he can, because occasionally they need to cooperate with a more publicly recognized hero on things, and he thinks it would be nice for Aki to get to work with her friends.

(Cue a befuddled Hawks getting a message from a random underground hero because “my kid is friends with your kid.”)

Later on, when she’s older and graduates from UA (yes he was at the ceremony, yes he was insufferable about how proud he was, and yes Jumpscare was there to try and keep him from embarrassing Aki. Aki appreciated the support anyway), he pesters her about coming to join him and Jumpscare full time as an official sidekick. She agrees with very little convincing and he’s over the moon.

After the Christmas that she gets him the alexandrite earrings, he takes her out for a walk with hot drinks and tells her that his hair used to be short and he didn’t get his ears pierced until he was a second year at UA. He tells her about Sano’s death, what the piercings meant to him, and that his own long hair and piercings were (and still are) his way of carrying Sano with him. She tries to apologize for “intruding”, and he cuts her off and tells her that with the new pair she got for him (he wears them all the time now), it’s like he’s always carrying his whole family with him. He tells her Sano would’ve loved it, and not only that, but Sano would’ve loved her too.

When Aki comes to him later that week and asks about getting her ears pierced, he takes her to the place he had his done. They go a total of three times over the years, and her ears look like his now. She changes her earrings often, matching them to her mood or her outfit, and on occasion he finds himself stopping to look at the jewelry counter in stores to see if they have anything she’d like. He thinks Sano would’ve been better at this than him, that he would’ve understood Aki’s style much better then Yasuda ever could, but the smile on her face whenever he shows her his finds is enough to push those thoughts away for a while longer.

Aki changes her earrings often, but the simple silver hoops at her helix are a constant. (Yasuda had been anxious, the night he’d offered them to her. They were, after all, the pair he had bought himself with his first hero paycheck in order to complete Sano’s wish. He’d almost talked himself out of it. It was a weird thing to want to give somebody, and they were old, compared to the rest of her pieces, and worn, and perhaps a bit more plain and masculine than she might like. Jumpscare had pushed him, though, and so he had gone through with it despite his concerns.)

(He hadn’t been expecting the tears that followed, or the hug, or for that very same pair of earrings to become a permanent staple of her wardrobe.)

(He finds it brings a warmth to his chest, sharing something so small and yet so important to him with someone who means just as much.)

Just. Thinking about how he wholeheartedly throws himself into the role of co-mentoring this kid, and how he slowly becomes this odd amalgamation of a mentor/friend/brother/guardian and how it’s largely due to him that Aki is able to become comfortable with herself and her quirk and actually starts to believe she can be a hero too.

They become family, in the truest sense, and that’s something so precious to them both that it changes both of their lives forever.

MHA: yeah so we’re gonna be MVA for a lil bit now, because plot reasons and all that, you understand of course—

And like. I know him dying is literally the whole point. If he survived then none of the other three would have ever found each other. It’s because he died and can’t be there with them that they’re there for each other and they even have this little family in the first place.

Current Todoroki <3

It was so neat getting to see that switch flip in real time and know what was coming. The scene pre-Bakugo fight when Bakugo barged into his waiting room and picked a fight had me so freaking excited because of Todoroki’s expressions. I was like “!!!!! That’s my Todoroki!!! I know that face!! He’s back!!! :D”

Regardless, the Tokoyami-Todoroki dynamic is calling to me and I fear I must answer.

/\ this introduction certainly didn’t help matters.

Meet Kohei Nakano, another MHA 1-A OC. He’s taking up like 90% of my brain space at the minute XD

Kohei is Tsuyu’s cousin, and his quirk is Chameleon: He can do anything a chameleon can do. Most notably, he can camouflage himself, he has a long prehensile tail, and he can move his eyes independently (and see both directions at the same time).

Kohei had a rough go of it in middle school, so he’s a bit shy and anxious when he first arrives at UA. After he settles in, though, his inner gremlin starts to come out. (He likes to let his eyes slowly drift until they’re looking complete opposite directions while he’s talking to a non-1-A student, and it’ll freak them out. He often gets yelled at by Iida for doing this. Kohei just giggles and slinks away.)

Kohei isn’t part of the Dekusquad or the Bakusquad. He minds his own business and floats from group to group, person to person, as he so desires. He spends most of his time hanging around with Sero, but he’s also friends with Ojiro due to them being tail buddies. Despite Kohei and Tsuyu being cousins, they aren’t particularly close. They didn’t grow up seeing very much of each other, so they feel more like strangers than family.

I haven’t figured out a hero name or costume yet, so that’s next order of business for him. Mainly I’ve been amusing myself imagining his interactions with 1-A :)
