she freezes with annaâs voice, lips parted and eyes wide in shock. â and ? â what else did she want her to say ? she speaks nothing but the truth ( for once in her life ) â sheâs sickly and bound to scepter 4. thatâs all there is to it. despite her shock, she listens to the kingâs tale, her expression beginning to settle to blankness.Â
sheâs overheard things pertaining to anna before, but her status as a strain was never one of them. she could only imagine the circumstances surrounding her powers, as well as the aforementioned hospital. her gaze averts, hands lowering to fiddle with the lace ends of her skirt again. really, this has to be a nervous tic or somethingâŚÂ
â your clansmen, they⌠seem more like the type of people to just screw around and have fun rather than stay behind and take care of a sick kid. â zuki observes, slouching a bit. â i would be a BURDEN to at least someone, regardless of whether or not you disagree. â it feels like sheâs just making excuses at this point out of fearâŚ
she freezes again and looks up. â wh⌠what.. ? â she asks, crystal blue eyes brightening considerably. friends ? sheâs never had a friend before, aside from her favorite teddy bear ! butâ this is a king. the red king. why would a king ever want to be friends with her ? the sparkles in her eyes dim and fade away, and her somber expression returns.
â iâm⌠not the kind of person youâd want to be friends withâŚÂ â who would want a whiny, lying, sickly, and dying child as a friend ?
Looking at it from the otherâs point of view... Anna couldnât deny that someone might be burdened by the girl. Truthfully though... didnât everyone burden others at some point? She could say she was a burden on Izumo, if she thought about it enough. It would be best to give up claiming the other wouldnât be a burden. It wouldnât change the point of view the older girl had of herself... So the child King would change tactics.
âThen... If you have to be a burden to someone... Iâll accept that burden, happily.â
She wouldnât mind at all. No matter how much of a burden it might be. She would be willing to accept it without complaint.
âHomura... Those boys... Theyâre all children. I donât think anyone of them would mind... Besides... Who says we couldnât have fun while taking care of someone sick?â
No, with their track record of picking up strays, she doubted a single one would mind, especially if Anna had asked. They were good about that. They may have all been adults who masqueraded as children, but they all knew how to take care of one another. There might be some complaining, but no one ever hated doing it. Perhaps that was just because of Tataraâs influence.
Anna lifted a marble back to her line of sight and stared through it. Expression becoming quite serious as though she were considering a very grave matter. It was only a matter of seconds, but it felt like forever before she lowered the marble again.
âYouâre wrong. You are the kind of person I want to be friends with.â
