i'm generally more on the positive side of it. i don't necessarily think that it was the perfect ending, but it was THEIR (crowley and aziraphale's) perfect ending. crowley and aziraphale intentionally made the choice to die and get rid of the old universe for the sake of humanity's free will. they understand the corruption of heaven and hell, so they know how much mess they made on earth. and they were happy choosing that! i don't think that it was out of place for them to come to that decision – their love for humanity is a central theme in the entirety of the book/show. it has what had driven the story forward, and it's something that was heavily emphasized throughout. i think it was a beautiful tribute to humanity.

do i think that they loved humanity so much to the point they became human? no. i interpret asa and anthony as manifestations of their love for each other, not really them in human form. their existence shows how they find each other in every universe. their love is so strong that they always manage to return to each other. nothing keeps them apart anymore unlike before where they were tied to heaven/hell, so they can love each other fully without any constraints. i'd like to think that in every century, there's a crowley and aziraphale out there who find each other. that's pretty darn beautiful to me.

as for my negative thoughts... i really feel like it should have ended with them dismantling heaven and hell. that way, they could truly be together forever and humans get proper free will. (i might even consider writing a six-episode screenplay...) i would've liked to see them make a new universe in the bookshop with the empty books to write on. this also ties in with how when they perform miracles together, it works "a little too well"; i think that part in season two got looked over and it would be nice if we saw them doing more miracles together. i also would've wanted a hug but that’s it.

i don’t think that we needed a kiss either. they’re canonically asexual and they just… don’t need it. honestly their love transcends physical touch because of how deep it is. i’ve already made a post about this so you can go read that if you wanna hear my thoughts on it

HOWEVER. i completely understand people who are upset at the ending because it means that they're technically dead. i really do believe that crowley and aziraphale are out there together, wherever they go after being erased from existence. i think they're watching humanity grow and grow from there. and maybe they created their own universe there. who knows? i genuinely don't believe that they're GONE gone. we just can't feel their presence.

in general, though, i found it rushed and paced weird. but that’s something that i expected from the condensing of six episodes into a 90-minute special. it’s something that honestly couldn’t have been avoided. i think they could have shortened the bentley and jesus plot lines to make more room for crowley and aziraphale’s story. this may change with time, but i found michael being the villain very out of place. i think they could’ve had another storyline to make it make more sense. i found the comedy really funny! jesus saying “bless YOU 😇” had me ROLLINGGGG. the scenes of crowley and aziraphale were all so funny. david and michael did amazing as usual and they truly gave it their all. i’m so satisfied with their performances like you could really tell that they didn’t wanna let it go
