*Elaine asked, who could that be or rather what cookie could that be? The first thought is a pomegranate as it can be rather close to an agar agar cookie but most elemental cookies cannot stand any cookies of darkness so she isn't sure*
The center is home to a lot of interesting cookies. Some were baked in the bakery and permanently lived there, some were cookies that were returned by their adopter. But strays, they come and go, but some do stay.
The sun slowly rises just as Elaine comes and opens the bakery to prepare for the day. Which means making sure the cookies are all alive and well, checking the equipment and all that fun stuff that comes with operating a bakery.
That includes checking the back, where strays come and go, against the wall were modified self heating cat houses that she bought for any stray cookies to come in to be away from the cold. She noticed the tray empty, guess there was either a lot of hungry strays or a really hungry one, either way, she needs to refill it.
Walking back inside from the backdoor, she grabs a box of cereal and a pack of dried fruits before walking back out, as much as there are better food options. Cereal and dried fruits are both affordable and filling for the strays, plus none seems to complain so far about free food.
As she pours and mixes the cereal and fruits on the tray (she cleaned and wiped them beforehand). She could hear shuffling as she looks over to see a very familiar grumpy face
"Mornin Truthless. Slept well?"
Her only response is a small huff from the Truthless Recluse, other than missing the hat and few scratches on his dough, he looks just as any Truthless Recluse and that included his personality, that he practically hates everyone.
Another stray trying to eat next to him? He glances at them with annoyance. A cookie from the bakery trying to ask him something? He either smacks them with his staff if they got too close to him or just walk away. God forbid a human employee approaches him, Elizabeth has gotten more bitemarks from him when she treated him for a scratch than she has with her own Nutmeg Tiger.
Case in point, he's an asshole
So everyone just agreed to not go near him, and he has become a regular since by the bakery, It was Jaws, Elaine's sorbet shark cookie who recommended the simply nickname of Truthless, possible from Elaine letting him and her other cookies watch how to train your dragon and getting inspired by Toothless.
Elaine watches in silence as Truthless approached the tray and began eating in silence, when he first showed up, he could not stand being even in the presence of a human and would dart away whenever she or Elizabeth goes out. But nowadays he seems to have gotten used to them which is good.
They always wondered where he came from, Cookies inside the center often make up stories that he was baked in an illegal bakery and escaped or that he escaped from a lab test. Whatever his backstory was, he unofficially is a residence of the bakery even if he hasn't come inside,
Elaine would just silently pour more cereals and fruits on multiple trays, don't want anyone fighting for food after all. After a few moments of silence, "You can keep pouring food. but there will always be a cookie out there that is hungry"
She has to take a moment to remember that Truthless was the one talking as she answers, "Well.. We're hoping to change that, one step at a time you know"
"Such naive goals..." He comments as silence took over them once again, apart from the soft sounds of other strays coming over to eat.
Maybe someday he'll learn that even naivety can do a lot but for now, he is welcome here at anything
"Huh? Oh, no, uh.. we're not lost. It's just this idiot ran into here for some..reason."
"I'm not...an idiot..!"
The fire spirit was also different. Two red stripes on his face on each side, and his staff had a glassy look to it.
"But uh..what is this place, actually."
"Eh well this is a bakery. well not like a normal bakery but bakeries for cookies like you guys"
*Elaine explained, her cookies looking at the scene just behind her, with one of them including a Eternal Sugar cookie wearing a vest with words in big bold letters "Emotional Support Cookie" plastered on said vest*
I have talked to Zephyros and Basil about the patisserie.
Zephyros agreed that the patisserie could be a source of magic attracting the cookies, however he also says given the current state of the patisserie, it might not be the case either.
Basil on the other hand said something more reasonable. The forest was here before the patisserie, but the forest was cut down to make space for the patisserie and is now growing back because there were no people making sure the growing of the forest in that direction went unchecked.
Zephyros agreed with that, saying he was supposed to lead me to see the patisserie at some point, except I seemed to be in the midst of dealing with other more important things so he waited until it was more free for me to do so. In fact Zephyros showed me a very run down but very human made path to the patisserie that the Crunchy Chip and Caramel Arrow confirmed is how they got here. It was actually a very quick path out of the forest, so I think I believe in Basil's theory in how the patisserie got here. Although now that I walk on the boundary of the forest... Uh... This patisserie seems to be near my house? How did I miss this for so long?
Zephyros then states that I don't go into the forest often enough. Which is fair, Zephyros has a point there.
In other news, I found the breaker box and turned it back on again. I'm surprised it still works, because the lights turned on when I tried the light switch after. I get the feeling the electricity is connected to my house.
Zephyros says I should check the land deed that I own again at some point. He thinks that due to the proximity of the patisserie to my house, I actually own it.
*Well then, that is quite a stroke of luck I may say, I mean. having a free building and all. (Not technically since you paid it with the payment of your home technically)*
*I will say is that make sure when carefully searching the patisserie, abandoned buildings are a home for strays and some may even consider it trespassing when humans or other cookies enter*

*Sugar lice. as the name suggest are attracted to anything remotely sweet and that unfortunately includes cookies. the live ones and normal one*
*This can easily be fixed by gently brushing any sugar lice off of your cookie. especially with a paintbrush then gently covering them with Diatomaceous earth powder. this will ensure the sugar lice will avoid the cookie. however. a more cheap one is to get some essential oils such as peppermint and gently give the area where your cookie sleeps a ligth sprits*
Since the main ingredient of Prune Juice Cookies is a laxative, do they get digestive issues?
*if you mean in regards to bowel movements then no. Cookies are mostly magic, so any foods they do eat are completely digested. no waste whatsoever*
*However. Some cookies, Like Prunes are prone to sickness and are relatively frail in terms of health, so they may have trouble digesting certain foods and it may cause them to throw up*
*For cookies like these, more softer foods are ideal and foods low in fiber especially to allow their magic to digest it easily*
The Agar Agar Cookie didn't really expect that reaction, blinking in confusion and surprise. But it refused, backing up a little bit. She hugged her mirror, I mean fair enough, she looks like she's 8 or something.
*Ok… maybe a bit too forward…*

*Elaine fished out a couple of star jellies from her pocket (she keeps some in there to feed to her cookies through out the day). placing a small piece of paper infront of the agar agar before she placed the jellies on it.*

Zephyros has gone and is currently fetching Basil to heal the injured Caramel Arrow. In the meantime, I have talked to the Crunchy Chip. He says both him and Caramel are strays and like exploring abandoned places. Well, this patisserie sure is abandoned alright.
Although... That now brings up a question of how a patisserie ended up in the forest... I wonder if the forest has gone towards the patisserie and enveloped it.
I would agree the patisserie is a source of magic, but wouldn't that also make your bakery a source of magic?
In any case, it seems like there are a bunch of things here despite the abandonment. For one thing, there is a lot of cooking equipment here, but interestingly zero ingredients nor life powder. I don't think ingredients last that long anyways, but I would have thought I would see some sort of moldy packaging or something...
Also, what is also interesting is that while this patisserie is in the forest, it seems to be quite untouched by it too. I'm not seeing a lot of plants growing along the walls or through the floors or something of that sort.
Ah, Zephyros has returned with Basil, I should probably talk to Zephyros about this patisserie as well as what to do... Magic can be weird...
*Heh. you’d be surprise by the amount of magic in our bakery, with how much we bake and sometimes with the wind blowing some ingredients here and there. we often joke about how if we sweep the entire bakery we would find enough life powder for another batch*
*It could be possible that someone has already looted the place, Life powder can sell for alot after all, especially for small bakeries who don’t care much about where the product comes from.*
*The Patisserie coming before the forest could be viable. tho that would mean that it existed for a long enough while that the surrounding becomes a thriving forest. Hell maybe there are a lot of cookies that used it as a living space. keeping it clean*
I found the hole the cookies are coming through i left some jellies near the hole for them
Hopefully they get comfortable comjng out of the walls
*it shouldn't be long til they come out, I do not imagine narrow, dark and probably dusty halls are ideal nor comfortable, try not to interact with them if you do spot them walking out however unless they directly come to you, as it may startle them*
