"Small Gods" in Online Spaces

It's been a rollercoaster of a day/months/year/... here in Aus, but we finally have a yes on marriage equality!

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice is an incredible game on many levels, not least of which is the portrayal of a protagonist living with ongoing mental health struggles. This video shows some of that impact.  Representation matters.

This ad just turned up in my Twitter feed. I think it's supposed to be spruiking services for property buyers, but from over here it looks more like a depressing commentary on housing affordability and dubious real-estate market practices. So ... basically accurate, I guess?

If we can avoid the usual "what did they expect" or otherwise lampooning commentary, maybe this is finally an opportunity to discuss some of these systemic issues in a non-partisan way? "Woke-er than thou" gatekeeping rhetoric will get us nowhere.

On understanding and re-thinking online social spaces

Me: everything is ok, it's just my sweet gay uncle the babadook, no longer feeling the need to terrorise families thanks to his newfound sense of community. He's doing some late night prep for the baking class he'll be running tomorrow in the local café; it's macarons this week. *Sleeps safely and soundly*
