YOU'RE NOT AN ALLY TO QUEER PEOPLE IF YOU'RE APHOBIC
[Image ID: The sentence "Aphobes can go kick rocks" is spelled out in a big ballon-esque font, shifting in different colours. The word "Aphobes" is cobalt blue, the words "can go" are pink, the word "kick" is peach and the word "rocks" is mint green. /End ID]
Can asexuality not be the only tag when it comes to discussions of aphobia/a-spec things in general please?
I'm asexual too, but I'm also aromantic and afamillial! There are SO MANY MORE ASPEC IDENTITIES than just ace!
You've been turned into a mythical creature, spin the wheel to see which one!

hey guysss so unfortunately the rumors are true and im leaving the narrative. Buttt the good news is my absence will create such a gaping hole in your lives that it will become a sort of presence itself, and so in a way it will kind of be like i never left! But i am. Leaving just to be clear.
The key to writing good fanfiction is to harbor a deeply humiliating desire, and the trick there is that even pretty basic and societally-accepted desires like âbeing heldâ and âbeing wantedâ CAN and WILL be humiliating if theyâre intense enough. Become so estranged from human connection that the idea of someone playing with your hair fills you with yearning so deep you feel like youâre going to throw up and you will write some banger fanfiction. It might have some other consequences too but idrk about that.
A writer's relationship with their own work goes: this is genius, this is garbage, this is genius, this is garbage, i should never have been born, okay actually this line is good
If you're a new writer and you're asking yourself "is this too personal, is this too much, will people think this is weird" that feeling is the exact location of your actual voice. The stuff that makes you want to close the laptop is the stuff nobody else could write. The safe version is always worse. Always. I have never once read something and thought "this would have been better if it was a little less honest." go further. It's always go further.

hey so. donât do this.
âcoming from a place of respectâ there is nothing respectful about a comment like this. this is exactly why I say witch hunt, speculations and accusations harm the writing community as much as ai does, if not more.
I am not saying âyouâre an asshole if you think a fic is aiâ. I have come across fics that I believe were ai-generated. but instead of asking (accusing) the authors, I make my own decisions whether Iâll continue reading for the benefit of the doubt or quietly exit the fics and look for something else to read.
because with every accusation like this, thereâs always a chance of a genuine, innocent writer getting wrongly accused.
last but not least, fanfic writers do NOT owe you anything. they write for themselves and their own enjoyment. their ao3 accounts are their houses and they were kind enough to let you in their houses. for free. (you get to read things for free.) you donât go into other peopleâs houses and tell them âactually I think the way you decorate your room is sus. did you actually do it yourself or did you ask a robot to do it for you?â. THEY đđť DONâT đđť OWE đđť YOU đđť ANYTHING. and I say this as someone who is not a fan of ai fics. if you donât like what youâre seeing, quietly leave.
*the following is not about the fic in this specific post. in general, I still strongly believe people who let ai write for them should tag their works as ai accordingly. but if we want more people to be honest about it, weâll have to stop shaming and harassing people who actually tag their ai-generated fics accordingly. harassment is never justified. not to mention, it will only make âai writersâ refrain from tagging their ai-generated works as such. and then thereâs no way for anyone to know for absolute certainty if itâs ai. therefore the raise of witch hunt.
yeah no, see this is what im talking abt this is the arrogance and over defensive mentality in writing spaces that make it so toxic. If ur posting your writing on a PUBLIC community platform like ao3 or anywhere else then your work is subject to any kind of comment and critique because itâs fucking public!!!! itâs not a âwitch huntâ, ppl are allowed to question the integrity of any work posted on a public platform, period. WRITERS OWE THE PEOPLE WHO GO OUT OF THEIR WAY TO INTERACT WITH THEIR WORK EVERYTHING!!! ao3 isnât ur fucking hugbox. and im pretty sure there are options on ao3 to make ur work private and only for you to see so???? at this point fanfic âwritersâ should just call themselves hobbyists with a hyper fixation on making god awful blorbo media slop cus if youâre just doing this shit for urself and u donât really care to actually CARE about your craft and hone in your skills then whatever ig? maybe we need to draw a HARD LINE between creative writing and whatever tf THIS isâŚ
âIf ur posting your writing on a PUBLIC community platform like ao3 or anywhere else then your work is subject to any kind of comment and critique because itâs fucking public!!!!â
âif youâre dressing like this in PUBLIC then you are subjected to being catcalled and harassed by strangers and youâre toxic if you fight back against the ones who harassed youâ victim blaming ass mindset.
âwriters owe the people who go out of their way to interact with their worksâ by interacting you mean being disrespectful and rude??? Iâd rather these entitled ass readers stay away from my works and any other writersâ works.
instead of looking for an excuse to be an asshole to other people, maybe have you ever tried being a decent person?
there's like a thousand ways for a shower to work and you wouldn't even imagine half of them until you have to take a shower at a new place
washing dishes is evil because you go "oh fuck there's so many dishes this is gonna take foreverrr" and then you enter the dish abyss and emerge with your abdomen somehow covered in water and your hands all wrinky and then you look at the clock and what felt like half an hour was actually 10 minutes
letâs be real the pressure to use AI as an adult is exactly what they said the pressure the do drugs as a teenager would be like but the people that told us that caved immediately for the AI and definitely did not just say no
Fandoms have a serious problem with how creators are being treated these days.
Fandom creators spend hours of their free time to create something to make fandom thrive...for free and for the love of the game.
And what do they get? A wholeass heap of fuck all. No reblogs, no comments, no nothing. And people are surprised that creators are dropping out left, right, and centre??
"Why is there no long fic anymore?" "Why did my favourite writer stop?" "Why is my favourite artist not posting anymore?"
I implore you to ask yourself: "What's the last thing I did to support my fandom? Does my favourite creator know they are my favourite? When was the last time I left a comment under something?"
It can be so intimidating to post stuff when you aren't confident. Then, when all you get is hate (whether from AI bots or humans accusing you of being AI because you used a semicolon correctly) you just... stop.
I want to write. I have three stories I am planning out, and I want to share them, but some are smut and I don't want the hate.
Ages ago, I was a vocal supporter of my favorite fanfic author and, I will admit, as the years passed and they stopped writing or answering as often, I let it die. They recently reached out (after 2-3 years) and I started rereading our conversations stretching back years, and I realized what a joy I had let fall by the wayside. We loved talking about the OC's backstories, how they came up with the plot, and other things. Supporting authors doesn't just support them, you often get behind-the-scenes info. I'm not saying this to bribe you into talking to authors, or that all authors will respond, but I am saying that reaching out can get others to open up and share things you would never know.
Sure, some people suck. Some creators want to be left alone, or monetize, or just are dicks. But most are putting something they worked hard on and loved out there in the digital void, and reaching out in any way lets them know that they aren't the only ones that loved it.
A blog on here I have found useful is @didyoucommenttoday. It reminds me, in my scroll, to kudos a fic I may not have otherwise.
