I was glad .I was near bellsprout tower when I input the last cheat, the colors of the game changed, its color palette was like the one in Pokémon Gold, only my sprite stayed in the same FireRed palette. Someone got out of Bellsprout Tower, it was Gold for sure but.. he had a shadow over his face and a gold or yellow eye? I dont know.Soon enough, Gold spoke–well G0ld, the name was glitched out.

G0LD: You really thought I'd let you win that easily? After what you did to me?

What the fuck? How did he know that?? Gold is just a character!

G0LD: Let me tell you, I didnt forget you. Not now, not ever. Cheaters dont win, FIRE. And I'll make sure, you remember that.

There was a god awful screech after the text box dissapeared. When the battle sequence begun, it was normal except for G0ld's sprite, which seemed glitched out.

PKMN TRAINER G0LD wants to battle!

PKMN TRAINER G0LD sent out TYPHLOSION!

Typhlosion looked.. terrible to say the least, it barely resembled itself because of the glitches.

Go, Charizard!

The game said, it was an unfair battle: while yes G0ld's Typhlosion was level 58–I shouldve swept the floor with it. It always went first with the move flamethrower, which KO'd any Pokemon I sent out.

After my last Pokémon fainted, one last message appeared

G0LD: You only won the other games using cheats because of the coding. They weren't sentient like I am, the damage you caused to me made me suffer and it fueled my hatred towards people like you. Let me tell you, FIRE, you never controlled the game, I did.

The game then crashed, my heart was racing and I thought I would pass out. I was so scared that I just closed my computer and stared at the ceiling, taking in what happened.

It was 10 PM so I decided to rest and go to sleep, I had a nightmare of that happening all over again.

As a kid, I loved Pokémon games. I used to play Pokémon Blue on my Gameboy and when Pokémon Gold, Silver and Crystal released, I got to play pokemon Gold on her Gameboy Color!

As I grew older, I began using cheats. When revisiting Pokémon Gold, I used a gameshark to cheat, nothing much just infinite HP, Defeating enemies with one hit and all that stuff.

Unfortunately, that led to the game crashing and not letting me pass the title screen. The start up and title screen would just loop for eternity, that was dissapointing although I didnt think much of it until now.Hey, my name is Gabriel and I'm writing to you all to share a weird Pokémon Heartgold ROM that I experienced and let me tell you—it made me not wanna cheat again, let alone look at Gameshark and cheat stuff.

It all started on a Sunday afternoon, I wanted to replay Pokémon HeartGold but the problem was, my DS Lite was broken, it got severe battery corrosion which ended up in the acid eating away copper traces on the motherboard. That was my fault, I left it in a box without taking the batteries out.I did what came first to my mind–download a ROM of HeartGold. Of course, I already wrote down some important cheats on the notepad of my PC, some normal stuff, walk through walls, max money, being able to run from trainer battles, yada yada.

It took some time to download so I searched up cheats for Pokémon Blue: I wanted to play Pokémon Blue after finishing HeartGold. After 30 boring minutes the game was finally downloaded! The start went smoothly, no glitches, it was smooth and fast. What was weird is that, I didnt get to choose which protagonist I wanted to be, I was immediately thrown in, my sprite was Red from Pokémon FireRed–another game I played and the one that begun my cheating journey, it was weird, my team was the same as the one in FireRed: a level 72 Charizard, level 68 Raichu, level 66 Arbok, level 71 Golbat, level 65 Nidoking and level 64 Arcanine.

Weird but okay, I first tried to input a cheat code to walk through walls, a following message appeared:

"You can't do that."

What the fuck? What do you mean I can't? I don't remember HeartGold having a fucking anti cheating message! Whatever, I thought it mightve been the person who uploaded the ROM fucking with it so I went into my journey from new bark town. Fortunately the cheat to run away from trainer battles worked, atleast I didnt have to deal with Joey and his level 5 weedle.The game after that went smoothly, let me use some cheats which,
