i feel like the 20th and 21st century standardized and killed a lot of the name diversity there used to be especially in random rural communities... of course yes most people were called juan and maria at any point but also, you don't see sandalio, bonifacia, silvestra, venancio, florente... anymore. even recognizable names like bartolome, braulio etc are set to disappear... all because you need to name your kids lea and enzo like everyone else in europe (you read it in a magazine)

not to sound insane but i think one of the key reasons i loved jan semine and gnarly so much is that my henry (me being a newbie going in blind) was having the worst life of his life for the first hours of gameplay - poor, dirty, useless, killed in every random counter, not one skill check passed - and then suddenly he got to grab a ride with a pair of chatty old queens willing to babysit him through a fun tutorial mission... it felt like being adopted by two loving parents
