So Kyle goes down on one knee and ends up with the ring, and Max thinks it couldn’t possibly be more perfect than it is right now. The sun shines through verdant trees surrounding the gazebo in the middle of town, and Kyle throws his arms around Max’s shoulders to kiss him.
He’s as helpless as he ever was, even in the summer heat holding Kyle close to him and kissing back for all he’s worth. His fiancé, his partner, his life.
When the kiss breaks he pulls back to look at him.
‘Did you really mean it? Today? You askin’ me to elope with you, Valenti?’
