An ode to a simpler time and one of my old favorite games, The Manhole. Created in Blender, Midjourney, and Photoshop.

I wanted to test the limits of what's possible with game UI design in Figma. There's definitely differences between how I'd lay out a UI for mobile/web and how to lay it out when I'm thinking in 3D. I love this game and they way they reimagined the classic interface. This is my little homage to it.

Design always requires some amount of “selling” the design; however, the more I do this, the more my design process becomes about bringing people along for the ride, rather than selling a final product. It’s one of my great joys, because great ideas can come from anywhere, and I love bringing people together.

Remake of an old favorite

I’ve been meaning to post this for awhile now. One of the first projects I worked on at Facebook was to ship category icons on map pins. Before this, they were plain, tiny pink dots; we kept seeing in research that people didn’t notice our maps or the tiny pins on them, so we made the pins bigger and more visual to make them look more interactive. This is just one of many improvements the team’s made to maps recently.

A prototype I made of the new Facebook recommendation flow (now live on Facebook)

The second time I trained for a half marathon, I injured my knee. The doctor told me I couldn’t run anymore, I had to start PT and knee injections, and I should always wear sneakers. I was devastated, but I found a new love for sneaker fashion. I made these collages of some of my favorite creps that made me at least feel confident in how I looked when I was going through a hard time.
