Let's talk about fan fictions, or how I will stir shit up and not make friends ~
First of all, as everybody is becoming more and more offended easily (I can barely make a joke about myself without offending someone these days), I would like to precise that I am not criticizing author's of fan fictions.
I am just saying that some of the work of some people leaves me quite puzzled. Chill babes ~ ♡
In fact, I've read some absolutely amazing works, very different from each others and I gotta say, damn girls/boys, you slayed it ! And I am sorry I won't be talking more about you in this post, but I'm seriously happy you exist.
But I've also read stuffs where I was like... Wow... What the heck did I just read ??
And let's be clear, I am not talking about "bad" work because everyone has his own opinion and taste so it wouldn't matter to discuss it there, plus I don't like to diss people's work for free.
No, I am talking about wtf works where characters seriously needs to go and meet a therapist : I am sure some of you have read plenty of Christian Grey/Edward Cullen look somewhat alike fan fictions. What I don't understand is : writing a good fan fiction takes a lot of time, do you really want to spend it to finally deliver that kind of character ?
Maybe I am becoming "old" (my face is 26 but my soul might be 45 already who knows) but let me get this straight, Christian Grey is a narcissist abuser and almost a rapist (yeah remember when he didn't pay attention to Ana's safe word ? Right. This is called abuse. Among other things). And no girl would tolerate it if he wasn't as charming and rich, let's be honest here (but he got an helicopter so I guess we can not resist). Plus, he also has a control obsession because it wouldn't be fun if he wasn't a total maniac, right ?
As for Edward Cullen, he is a I-dont-know-how-many years old and still attends school for no reason, while breaking at night in a girl's house to watch her sleep. Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure this is not the way you should act when you have a crush on someone. He also tries to commit suicide when his soul-mate tries to breakup with him. Again, a control freak. "But he sparkles in the sssuuuuuunnnnnn !!" Shut up Daniela nobody asked.
So please Authors could you produce some male characters with a normal behaviour, or at least functional ?
There is plenty to do with every archetype characters that exists (orphan, lover, healer, leader, hero...) to avoid that kind of stereotypes. It doesn't mean your character will be boring, on the contrary, they will have a deeper personnality because you'll have to find other flaws to them.
Authors often asks for request from their readers.

PS : I won't talk about the fact that some smut fan fictions should appear only on Youporn Hardcore page because I can already feel the stares on my back and the doubts about my sex life quality. But yeah, try not to turn your readers into pornstars. We love sex, almost everybody does, but we love self-respect too. Anal on the first night doesn't usually mean you're the love of his life.
