And once Zarkon dies, a certain Commander Sniv sends a handful of assassins on her tail. Also Lotor calls her a witch in front of everyone but Lotor *is* the Prince. The only ones who have respect for Haggar are Sendak and the Druids. (Also, 'bitch-I-mean-witch' is so true.)

Lotor, as demonstrated by what you refer to as ‘soft colonisation’ (I laugh, how absurd of you to assume colonisation is anything but monolithic, especially in a children’s show!), is a radical communist who seeks to upheave the systems of oppression that subjugate him greatly. The dichotomy between Allura’s monarchism and Lotor’s leftism is stark when you consider how Allura keeps the honorific ‘Princess’ intact while lacking her tangible Princesshood, whereas Lotor — even after his ascension to Emperor — remains extremely down-to-earth. Allura gets angry at Lotor for taking revenge against his colonisers (Alteans) and violently assaults him both verbally and physically. Shipping Lotura is therefore engaging in the fetishisation of the normalisation of the romanticisation of the localisation of the terrorisation of misandry.

Zethrid wanting Throk dead does, on the surface, seem legitimate for her character in and of itself, but like. Zethrid is a decent enough strategist to understand why Lotor would want a scapegoat. I don't think she wanted to do violence for the sake of violence here; I think she wanted vengeance.
