why  do  you  hunt  monsters ?

𝚃𝙾  𝙵𝙸𝙽𝙳  𝚈𝙾𝚄𝚁𝚂𝙴𝙻𝙵.  𝚃𝙾  𝙵𝙸𝙽𝙳  𝚈𝙾𝚄𝚁𝚂𝙴𝙻𝙵.  𝚃𝙾  𝙵𝙸𝙽𝙳  𝚈𝙾𝚄𝚁𝚂𝙴𝙻𝙵.

somehow  you  can't  shake  the  feeling  that  there  should  be  more  to  life.  𝐘𝐎𝐔  𝐅𝐎𝐋𝐋𝐎𝐖  𝐓𝐇𝐄  𝐑𝐔𝐋𝐄𝐒  (  𝚃𝙷𝙰𝚃'𝚂  𝙰𝙻𝙻  𝚈𝙾𝚄  𝙳𝙾,  𝙸𝚂  𝙵𝙾𝙻𝙻𝙾𝚆  𝚃𝙷𝙴  𝚁𝚄𝙻𝙴𝚂  )  so  why  do  you  feel  so  empty?  why  can't  you  shake  the  feeling  that  something's  gone  horribly  wrong?  that  you're  just  going  through  the  motions?  that  you've  forgotten  something  extremely  important?  you  are  trapped  in  a  system  that  doesn't  care  about  you.  you  fight  monsters  because  that's  what  you're  supposed  to  do  (at  least,  that's  what  you  say  when  you're  asked)  but  really  it's  because  𝐘𝐎𝐔  𝐍𝐄𝐄𝐃  𝐀  𝐏𝐔𝐑𝐏𝐎𝐒𝐄.  until  you  get  it,  you'll  just  do  what  you've  always  done:  forge  an  identity  through  labor.  you  reap  what  you  sow.  you  ARE  what  you  sow.  you  will  keep  sowing  until  you  are  unwoven.  

you  have  dreams  of  a  different  life,  without  work,  the  sun  is  so  bright  in  these  visions.  but  they're  only  dreams,  and  then  you  wake  up,  and  you  drink  a  mug  of  coffee  (black,  burns  your  throat)  and  you  realize  that  there's  more  work  to  do.  so  you  do  it.  who  else  will,  if  not  you? 𝐒𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐁𝐎𝐃𝐘  𝐇𝐀𝐒  𝐆𝐎𝐓  𝐓𝐎  𝐅𝐈𝐍𝐈𝐒𝐇  𝐓𝐇𝐄  𝐆𝐑𝐎𝐔𝐏  𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐉𝐄𝐂𝐓.  𝐒𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐁𝐎𝐃𝐘  𝐇𝐀𝐒  𝐆𝐎𝐓  𝐓𝐎  𝐁𝐄  𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐏𝐄𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐓.  𝐈𝐓'𝐒  𝐘𝐎𝐔.  𝐈𝐓'𝐒  𝐀𝐋𝐖𝐀𝐘𝐒  𝐁𝐄𝐄𝐍  𝐘𝐎𝐔.  maybe  someday  you  can  reunite  with  the  version  of  yourself  you  see  in  twilight  sleep,  on  the  insides  of  your  eyelids,  in  the  smoke  from  your  friend's  joint.  until  then,  don't  despair  --  there  is  always  more  work  to  do.
