empathetic because i know how it feels to relapse over and over again
I'm doing it again.
Self destructing slowly.
Stop counting the relapses and stop worshipping the time you have without them. Just keeping getting back up. You just keep getting back up. Now that is recovery!

Sometimes there’s this quiet, confusing urge to feel worse, like if things got bad enough, then it would finally make sense. Like your pain would be visible, undeniable. Like people would take it seriously, or you would be allowed to take yourself seriously without second-guessing it.
It’s not really about wanting to suffer. It’s about wanting your suffering to feel real.
When you have been holding things in, minimizing them, or being told (directly or indirectly) that it’s “not that bad,” you start to doubt your own experience. You compare. You question. You wonder if you are overreacting. And somewhere in that confusion, the thought creeps in: maybe if it got worse, I would d finally be allowed to feel this way.
But needing your pain to be validated doesn’t make you dramatic. It means you haven’t been properly seen or understood. It means you have been carrying things that didn’t get the care they deserved.
Your feelings don’t need to reach a breaking point to be real. They already are. The exhaustion, the heaviness, the confusion, it all counts, even in its quieter forms.
You don’t have to prove your hurt by letting it consume you. You don’t have to earn compassion by getting worse. You deserve to be taken seriously as you are, right now.
Wanting to feel valid is such a human need. And you are valid, not because of how bad things get, but because you are feeling them at all. 🤍
Cry your grief to God. Howl to the heavens. Tear your shirt. Your hair. Your flesh. Gouge out your eyes. Carve out your heart. And what will you get from Him? Only silence. Indifference. But merely stand looking at the playbills, sighing because your name is not on them, and the devil himself appears at your elbow full of sympathy and suggestions. And that's why I did it....Because God loves us, but the devil takes an interest. ― Jennifer Donnelly, Revolution
Writing Prompt: Cry your grief to God
“I don’t like hope very much. In fact, I hate it. It’s the crystal meth of emotions. It hooks you fast and kills you hard. It’s bad news. The worst. It’s sharp sticks and cherry bombs. When hope shows up, it’s only a matter of time until someone gets hurt.”
— From Revolution by Jennifer Donnelly
What’s everyone’s favorite Nancy Drew reference you’ve seen in the wild, whether it was in a book, TV show, movie, or elsewhere?
One of my favorite YA historical fiction books is Revolution by Jennifer Donnelly, and the main character, Andi Alpers, uncovers the identity of a composer who nobody knew who he actually was, and she ends up getting a lot of media attention for it because it's a really big deal, and her best friend starts calling her Nancy Douche to tease her about it because she won't tell him how she figured it out (spoiler alert, it involved magical time travel, which is exactly why she won't tell him, because he probably wouldn't believe her anyway)

It's been months since I last picked up a book and dedicate mýself to reading it. I'm rereading Revolution by Jennifer Donnelly (a fave!!!) and I love the songs the characters wrote.
Oh what I'd give to be able to actually listen to the even just the melody and oh how lovely it must be to have someone sing for you and fall asleep hearing their wonderful voice.
Here's Iron Band by Andi Alpers!
"I'm wishing that he could see that music lives. Forever. That it's stronger than death. Stronger than time. And that its strength holds you together when nothing else can."
Jennifer Donnelly, Revolution
For mad I may be, but I will never be convenient.

"You could say that Laura Palmer is Marilyn Monroe, and that Mulholland Drive is about Marilyn Monroe, too. Everything is about Marilyn Monroe."
