is it 'difficulty-focused' game design or is it ableism

i dont know about you but i think certain singleplayer games not having the ability to pause [looking at you fromsoft] or customize the difficulty and/or make it more visually accessible [looking at you, fromsoft and toby fox], OR putting in unremovable QTEs [looking at you, clair obscur] is extremely ableist. i dont think such game devs want me to 'git gud', i think they just hate me because i happen to have a disability that prevents me from having the reaction time/visual acuity required to play their games 'properly'.

It's more that the concerns of disabled people don't really cross the minds of game developers frequently

more precisely, I think the 'intent' based model of "what really matters in human interaction" exists because it allows epistemic authority alone to determine the legible results. it turns all disagreements into a he-said/she-said, of which whoever has the most social power and authority is always favored and determined to be the most "real". observe how parents are especially concerned with their "good intentions" when raising children, because they'll always win and it prescribes no actual change in behavior.
