absolutely i think cis people should expand their horizons and write trans characters, but they shouldn’t write stories about being trans. likewise i think allistic / NT authors should write about autistic characters! but not stories about being autistic.

Inaho joins Team Instinct for his love of eggs. Talks to Spark and Spark is like, “Oh me too, I love eggs!! Eggs are the best!!”

So Inaho happily talks about egg recipes, the different methods of cooking eggs, and how delicious and nutritious they are while Spark can’t help but think of his Poké eggs and sobs, imagining the poor, unborn Pokémon being roasted and eaten as tears drip down his face.

Think of Inaho throwing grand egg parties and inviting Spark, who drinks juice boxes in the corner as he warms up his Pokémon eggs in his jacket. He dies a little inside as Inaho eats yet another egg.

But Bang Yongguk.

Beware, this is a word vomit full of love for Bbang. Read at your own risk.

Bang Yongguk is something else, at least for me. I can’t explain it. There’s something about this so beautiful, tall, reserved man with a voice so deep and so low and so commanding that made me pay attention. Years passed and I discovered he isn’t just his beauty and his voice…He’s so, so much more. His love for his grandfather, his closeness with his family, his love for his members whom he calls his brothers or his kids depending on the mood, his love for children and his concern for their wellbeing, his genuine desire to help those who are in need, his philanthropy and the way he influenced his members and his fans to do the same, his strength during their hardest moments, his courage to show vulnerability by releasing AM 4:44, his drive to fight not just for himself but for his members, his respect for the institution but not backing away from calling it out, his artistry and brilliance and balls in using their songs to express his dissatisfaction with the crooked system during a time when doing so gets a songwriter confused and even mocking looks, his silent but sincere leadership…he’s so, so much more.

Then his hiatus happened and my heart broke for him. No one deserves to suffer that way but he didn’t let it stop him. He persevered. He continued. We all saw how he went from this mousy, waifish man who kept on hiding behind his members to this slightly more active, more confident, healthier leader who still may not be in the center of the camera but doesn’t shy away from it anymore. He fought and is still fighting and, for me, that’s inspiring.

This is getting too long but…really….all I wanted to say is that Bang Yongguk is not just a simple kpop idol. He’s so, so much more.

-she talked with war veterans and people with disabilities to accurately depict characters with those backgrounds

-she also researched military corruption extensively

-she fought to bring in more female characters with her editors who opposed it

-she has told her readers that there is no shame in leaving an emotionally toxic situation and you should never feel ashamed of it

-she based the situation with the ishvalan people off of a real displaced indigenous group called the ainu people in hokkaido to raise awareness of their situation

-she criticizes the notion of self sacrifice being a noble thing especially since it’s such a prevalent theme in most shonen manga

-she worked on a farm with a lot of hardworking women and wanted her work to reflect just how complex real women can be rather than overdone anime stereotypes

-she has stated that she thinks there is value in not repressing anger in the face of injustice, and she thinks it’s good to use that anger in constructive ways

-she has emphasized in her story that you don’t always have to forgive the people who hurt you

-she worked on and alongside several other manga one shots, illustrations, character designs, anime adaptions, movie adaptions, and light novels all while having three kids over the course of her career
