Our lives rely stupid amounts on using the Internet, and without it we feel as though we canât live our lives⌠Perhaps because we canât find out what everyone else is doing with their lives. But the internet is like one ginormous archive, storing every nasty comment, embarrassing picture and inappropriate conversation. Itâs so important to be careful. Think about ur future!
This is a really good point Emily! Itâs so scary to think that every future employer you may have, could have access to those embarrassing selfies you took when you created your Facebook aged 13⌠Or those drunk club photos in freshers week!
I know, I went to a recruitment firm for some work experience a couple of years ago, and I had to shadow the CEO there. I was shocked at how much he search into each candidate! Everything from Google, to Facebook to twitter! You never think that these sort of things will ever come back to bite youâŚ
It sounds unlikely but Iâve heard stories from someone I used to know of how before any person is given an interview in their company the HR department would search Google, and Facebook, for their name and Email address to check out their online persona. Apparently they would often reject candidates because of their Facebook profiles or what sort of content came up including their email address. Be careful people! Iâm sure its really hard to change the search results once your data is out there because a lot of platforms are linked.Â
