I know I joked about it because it is also funny, but genuinely the scene where they’re all in the war room hashing out the international politics and it cuts to somebody outside in uniform like “I still don’t understand what a country is” I genuinely like. I’m not gonna lie that scene where the guy who was in love with Sasha freaks out on gabbi was actually way more interesting to me than pretty much anything they ever did with Sasha when she was alive

Fiction will always b like “it’s a worse punishment for this character to live and be in prison forever and think about what they did than for them to be killed” and it’s bullshit 99% of the time but I think eren jaeger is the one and only character for whom that literally would’ve been SO absolutely fucking true. If they’d found a way to cancel titan powers without killing him and stuck him in a jail cell instead he would’ve just been completely out of his mind bashing his head into the walls and munching on himself like a dog who lost his shit at the pound.

I fucking love love love love love the clouds and sky mirrored back at each other above and below because it is the essential concept of freedom in the imagination of someone who lived in a walled city where there was no real horizon and the only thing you could conceive of going on forever and ever is the sky. And he’s grown up a bit and armin has shared all of these concrete ideas with him for years of oceans and deserts and volcanoes and Eren’s even been to the ocean in person but he just cannot see it! He can’t see potential and has no real curiosity or imagination for anything constructive. This whole time the notion of freedom has just been about space in itself as negative, a lack of borders and obstacles and even just like the trappings of being a person in a society with other people. It’s emptiness it’s oblivion it’s silence!!!! He doesn’t want freedom, he wants to die.
