Are the only seniors who are peer advisers for juniors the ones on the spreadsheet you linked us, or can we choose rising seniors from the spreadsheet of rising seniors for college students?

The rising hs seniors listed in the 3000 series are the ones who applied to be peer advisers, so please pick from those.

However, we might encourage some rising hs seniors from the 2000 series to become peer advisers due the number imbalance. Feel free to list some from the 2000 series in additional preferences. Though please only use 3000 series for your primary (1st-7th) preferences.

This is our SECOND email regarding dual selection; if you did not receive either or both emails, please us know us! Additionally,please keep letting us know if you have questions/concerns!

Hi everyone, I realize that a lot of people are incorrectly filling out the dual selection forms, so I am going to clarify some points. If you filled out the application incorrectly, please simply resubmit the form. Failure to resubmit a form (after incorrectly filling it out) will lead to delays and possibly lead to the inability to pair you with your desired adviser/advisee. Once again, we've very sorry for the confusion! To Rising HS Juniors:Section (II): If you are a rising HS junior, your adviser will be a rising hs senior. Thus, your preference in adviser MUST be a rising hs senior. All your preferences should be a 3000 series number. Section (III) Here you may list a preferred college adviser from the 4000 series number. This college adviser will be your primary adviser (a rising hs senior)'s college adviser. This creates a triplet of rising HS junior being advised by a rising HS senior, who is being advised by a rising/current college student. This college student is primarily advising their rising hs senior but can occasionally advise and guide their advisee's advisee (a rising hs junior - you). It is possible that we will try to match your peer adviser with your preferred college adviser, and thus this section exists. In short, rising hs juniors are being advised by a rising hs senior, but will have access to a college student for additional advice. To Rising HS Seniors:Section (II): You are being advised by college students, thus you should be choosing from the 4000 series numbers. Section (III): If you applied to advisee a rising hs junior, you will fill this section out with 1000 series numbers. To Rising/Current College Students: Section (II): You will be advising rising HS seniors, thus you should be choosing from the 2000 series numbers. To All: Section (IV) for Rising HS Seniors and Juniors and Section (III) for Rising/Current College Students - Preferred Advisees and/or Advisers in Advising Team. A set of paired hs junior/hs senior/college student will also be be paired with other sets to create Advising Teams. Members of other sets will act of additional resources to other advisers and advisees to create mini-communities. In this section, you can list who you would like in your team. (ie, not your primary/secondary adviser or advisee, but people in other sets who you might interact with.) Here, you can select those in the same year as you (ie. a college adviser can list another college adviser as a preference if s/he deems that they would be a good fit to possibly work together). You can also select an advisee/adviser who you think you might be helpful with or have advise for but don't think you can help them with the full capabilities as a primary adviser/advisee. Asterisk SystemAdditionally, on shared applications, the double asterisks indicate the school that the the student is currently attending. Single asterisks indicate the student’s college acceptances.The asterisk system was optional, so some people might not have any asterisks for a set of schools, but might have been accepted/currently attend. I'm a rising junior. Can I request both rising seniors and college freshman in my google form?

Rising Juniors can only request rising seniors. You can list a preferred college adviser too. However, your preferred college adviser is NOT your primary adviser. Instead this is your peer adviser (a rising hs senior)’s adviser. It is possible that we will take this into account when creating triplets.

What does "Preferred College Adviser" mean?Should i pick them?And where from?

Dual selection is the process by which an advisee can choose their preferred college adviser and vice versa. Thus your “Preferred College Adviser” is the adviser that you wish to be paired with, based on the shared applications.All applicants were emailed yesterday with links to the shared applications and forms to list your preferences. What do the single and double asterisks stand for in the colleges applied section of the pick a rising/current college student adviser?

How do we pick our college advisers? (Probably a dumb question). Do we just email you back or.....

Simply fill out the appropriate google form. In the email, there are 3 forms, depending on if you are a rising hs junior, rising hs senior, or rising/current college student. List your preferences using the application numbers there.

Do you have an estimate of how long it will take after registration is closed to be assigned to a peer adviser(if you did NOT apply dual selection)?

Dual selection actually extends the application process for everyone. Therefore, regardless of whether you participate in dual selection or not, you will receive your assignment at the same time as everyone else. Pairing takes an incredible amount of time and effort, as we want to create the best pairs possible, given applications and preferences. But we know that everyone is excited to get working on college-related work, so we’re hoping to notify peer advisers by the first week of August!

How will we know/be notified of all the advisers/advisees to choose from for dual selection? also will those who didn't choose dual selection be put on the list for other people to choose from?

All applicants will be notified via email and receive access to all applications. Even those who don’t choose to participate in dual selection will still have their applications shared with others so that they can still consider you as a preference. When the email is sent out, you will also have the option of letting us know if you would rather prefer that your application does not get shared at all.There have been a lot of questions lately, so we created an faq for similar questions and more depth/clarity at collegepeeradvising.tumblr.com/faq

When do we find out if we are advisors?

Pretty much everyone who applies for the program enters into the program! Dual selection will take place next and then hopefully in early August, the program will launch. At that point all advisers and advisees will be notified of their pairings and activities/resources/guides will be distributed.

I have a college essay deadline coming up in the next few days and I was hoping I could get someone to read my essays. Do you know which advisors I could send an ask to? Some of them don't have working ask boxes or working urls.

The list posted on our Tumblr is outdated and unfortunately, we won’t have our updated peer advisory directory ready until the program fully launches. However, the Tumblr community is usually really nice and helpful about this things. I’m sure that if you posted that you needed help with essay editing, someone would be willing to take a look!

Hey I am going into my junior year, can I still apply or do you have to be a senior?

You can still apply!This program is open to those going into their high school junior year, high school senior year, and beyond.

Rising high school juniors and seniors can be peer advised with rising high school seniors and college students respectively. Rising high school seniors and college students can become peer advisers for rising high school juniors and rising high school seniors respectively.

HI! I'm very interested in the advising program but i have one question. Are we supposed to complete both applications if we are a rising senior hoping to be paired with a college student as well as a high school junior for the triplet?

Yes! If you are interested in advising a high school junior and would also like to be advised by a rising/current college student, please fill out both applications!

Admittedly, a lot of communication will likely occur through emailing for simplicity sake.
