"Aren’t you? If you were one of my agents, I’d’ve fired you years ago. SHIELD has such low standards."

"Says the woman I left in the dust back in Nicaragua.."

"But look what else I did in Nicaragua. Three SHIELD agents dead and a safehouse uncovered. Unlike you, Agent Gideon, I am a professional.”

Three flag draped coffins, and an embarrassment. It wasn’t his fault directly, but he still felt responsible. “They were good people, and they held off long enough for us to accomplish what we came there to do. Acceptable loss.” Lying through his teeth. Sure, they did what was needed, but the loss was never acceptable, even when it was.

"Good people? Like you, Agent Gideon?"

"It’s really got nothing to do with what I don’t know…It’s more or less what I refuse to acknowledge because there’s no factual evidence and the person who said it is dumb as fuck.”

"Oh? You’re talking about one of the founding members of HYDRA, you know. A dangerous person to insult, perhaps."

"All the more reason to insult then… and more ammo.”

"Of course you'd say that. SHIELD. Always so close-minded."

“Have you?” she drawled. “What an unusual hobby for Captain America’s daughter to have. It’s almost a pity you’re not on our side.”

"Being Captain America’s daughter means I do what’s right; it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s legal.” As much as she hated doing anything that could possible help HYDRA, she knew hacking into FBI security could help her side as well. She scoffed at the last bit. “Keep dreaming.”

"That would be me, Agent De Santi. My name is Neva Esser . . . you may have heard of me. Or perhaps not. I'm here to make you an offer."

Esser tilted her head. “I know a great many things. But not, of course, everything. What are you referring to? Your affiliation with SHIELD? I am aware of that.”

"You’re not showing off familiar ink either. So, why are you here, knowing who I am?"

"Oh, I think I have some idea. Another sin to rest at Captain America’s feet: he prevented HYDRA from wiping your regime off the face of the earth in one fell swoop. I suspect he won’t bother to stop us a second time, though."

Did she know what he was and what he could go out and do. He had left his men behind this time. It would be no problem to bring them with him next time. He had nothing to say to this woman at the moment and let out a low growl instead of saying anything.

"Please," she said, waving a hand delicately. "I know you speak English. I'd try German, but sorry - you bastards deprived me of the chance to learn it." Her tone was lighthearted despite her disdain. She wanted him to know exactly how little of a threat she thought he was. 

"Have you?" she drawled. "What an unusual hobby for Captain America's daughter to have. It's almost a pity you're not on our side."
