Finally doing something creative. I have been in quite the sunken place of creativity. This logo design was inspired by a coworker's "mouse eating protein bars" story. That story became the name of our new team at work, which meant a logo needed to be created.
When one creates a team logo, one must also provide stickers for the team.

The US Postal Service
I am going to ask you all to do a small but important thing. When you go to the post office to mail a package or buy stamps or shipping supplies, get a receipt.
At the bottom of the receipt is a link and a QR code to fill out a short survey about your "customer satisfaction" with the post office. You are going to fill out that (it takes less than two minutes) and you are going to give them a glowing review each time!
Why? Because they are looking for reasons to make budget cuts despite the USPS being in the constitution and a valuable public service. So we are going to make it unequivocal that we like the postal service.
Because we do!
They send medicine cheaply, they take ballots for voting (which Republicans hate). They are the only shipping service in many rural areas. AND they are basically all that is keeping UPS, FedEx etc's prices down. Privatization means everything will be more expensive.
The post office is ours. It's our right. And the workers there are also being treated like shit right now. So support them in this very simple, easy way. And do this every single time you go there. Please. (And please reblog this. Let's overwhelmingly flood the system with positive feedback.)
Important addition!
There are three methods to do a survey:
QR code
Phone Number
Web (link)
You can only do one of each kind from the same device every 30 days. That means that you can only do the QR code from your phone once every 30 days. Your phone number will only be logged once every 30 days if you call the number. If you type in the link (or click it from your email receipt) your IP will only count once in 30 days.
That means you need to be smart about the method and device you’re using to do the survey.
A few other things to keep in mind is that the survey is about the customer service your received that day during that transaction. Not about a missing package or a letter you mailed a week ago. That one interaction. That’s it.
It’s important to mention the person that helped you by name if you can. Lots of window clerks write their names on the receipt but take a lot at their name tag if you can.
Pay attention to which answer you select. The scale goes from “very satisfied” to “very dissatisfied.” Neutral and lower are a demerit and if you accidentally press “very dissatisfied” but leave an otherwise glowing review it doesn’t matter, the entire survey score is basically based on that one response.
The postal service generates a receipt for every transaction big and small. If you drop off a prepaid package you can take it to the clerk and have them scan it in and that will create a receipt that you can complete a survey for.
If you’re trying to be paper conscious there is an email option.
Please do these surveys as much as you can! I would say it’s vastly different from corporate surveys because they are legitimately trying to limit your rights to the postal service and they are using the surveys to do it.
Drought of creativity
Been struggling with a bit of creative burnout. Not much in the way of new art happening so far this year, just playing around in the sketchbook.
April's Flight 24" x 24" Oil on Canvas
This piece certainly came together fast. I've been staring at an old painting for couple months thinking that I can breathe new life into it. Once I put on the easel and started painting, this image came to life. It's been a long time since a painting took only a day to come together and I'm very pleased with how this turned out. I just love the energy and the movement in brushwork and marks.

The Painted Lady 24" x 24" Oil on Canvas
This piece took a bit of a journey, like most of my work. I traveled with it and chose a different color palette than I'm use to. This was a fun trip to take and I think the piece turned out well. The best part is that one of my kids helped me out with the composition and offered some really interesting insights to what they actually saw in the painting. It was great to have that moment, listen and to incorporate their insights into this piece.

Lunar Reflections 24" x 24" Oil on Canvas
Another reclaimed canvas gets a new life. This one was challenging in many regards. One of my challenges was working with differing greens and limiting my color palette choices. Also, I tried not to put too much paint on the canvas or work with the palette knife a lot, but my muscle memory really just hit with all the textures. I'm pleased with where this piece went, but I know I could have improved on it and pushed it further. I'm calling it done as the painting was beginning to get over worked and losing all the wonderful under paint I had going on.

Azure Signals 24"x24" Oil on Canvas
Took another reclaimed canvas and breathed new life into it. I'm wanting to get more loose with my work and not lay the paint down so thick. Hopefully, I achieved that some with this piece. I really like the glow and the colors that I got on this piece. Very pleased with it.

Look 20"x20" Oil on Canvas
Another painting that took me forever to complete. This one was on my easel…mocking me. Definitely tried something different with this one. I tried to capture the mystery of a rare black barn owl.

Silent Shore 20"x30" Oil on Canvas
This painting is on a reclaimed canvas. I believe this is now the third painting on this canvas. Hopefully, this latest image is more lively than the previous image. This took me a while as I am still struggling with a bit of a creative funk. This should not have taken me 3 months.

Red Grasshawk 24" x 24" Oil on Canvas
This was a fun piece to work on because of the challenging line work and movement. It was great to try a different color palette than I'm used to.

24"x24" Oil On Canvas
The butterfly motif has been something that's been really speaking to me lately. Their movement and the lines of their forms have an energy that I want to capture and share. This one feels like it is about to take off.

City on the Hills 12"x18" Oil on Canvas
I am happy with they way this turned out, though not really happy with the picture that I took of this piece. My biggest struggle is that I am a horrible photographer. Anyway, this is a reclaimed canvas. The original painting just never quite felt finished until now. I am pretty sure that I have a lot more paintings in storage that will get a second life as I believe a few of them were never quite finished either.

Verdes Blue 24" x 24" Oil on Canvas
I really wanted to capture the softness and color of the Palos Verdes Butterfly in this piece. The butterfly has some really beautiful markings under their wings that I wanting to play with.
