✴︎ about idol!martin x singer!reader
when in paris, it is expected you will experience one of two things. angry parisians or a romance story waiting to happen.
y/n believed her fate to be terrible, hence why the minute she arrived in france she was met with a rude receptionist at her hotel. just her luck.
with hours until check in after a miscommunication and nothing to do y/n took a seat in the lobby surrounded by five suitcases (yes five) that were all hers. her hopes of sleeping peacefully on the couch before she could go to her room were quickly destroyed by the sound of five teenage boys on the street outside the lobby.
of course, y/n knew who they were. being a singer meant she constantly listened to a variety of artists. she was put on to cortis and kpop as a whole through her industry friend vicky (known to the general population as pinkpantheress). she thought cortis were extremely unique and cool, often being inspired by them for her more punk/rock songs, despite how little time they had been around.
martin noticed her first. and then again. and again. throughout the events of paris fashion week it felt like y/n and martin were fated to keep bumping into each other, sharing small talk consistently. there comes the second thing to expect in paris - a romance story waiting to happen.
every event she saw him at during paris fashion week would result in her returning to her hotel room watching edits on tiktok or liking group posts on instagram, knowing her attention was only on one member. in a cycle of stalking, she even downloaded weverse. yes, weverse. it was bad.
somewhere between the many drinks offered at the events the pair attended and the small conversations they engaged in, martin and y/n found themselves sat opposite each other at a small cafe on the streets of paris. it had been a filled week of shows, pop ups, and appearances for both y/n and martin. despite the individual appearances at these events, they always found each other. now the week was ending, life would return to normal and they would be miles apart.
“i’m paranoid i made you up.”
y/n broke the silence. she had been staring at martin for the past five minutes. he hadn’t said anything, simply wondered if she was feeling the same things he was. if he could even define those feelings himself that is.
“you’re just so pretty.” now it was martins turn to blush. all night he had been making y/n turn various shades of red on their unplanned date and now he was becoming extremely shy.
“thank you.” he muttered “i could say the same and more for you.”
y/n couldn’t take it anymore and she figured one more minute with martin edwards and she would combust so she proposed the best idea.
“it’s getting late i think im going to start heading back to my hotel martin.” she spoke, standing up from her chair opposing his. “thank you so much for today.” she slowed her words, leaving him room to make a move.
“no thank you so much! i had a lot of fun. if you want i can walk you?” there it was. “i mean- if it’s not too fast or anything?”
“i’d love it if you’d walk me home.” leaving the pair to make their way out swiftly.
“i feel like i was talking up a storm in there.” she uttered pulling out some gum, kindly offering a piece to him to which martin accepts.
“yeah well it’s time for me to question you now.” y/n smiled.
“oh ok!” he spoke quickly. “i’m kinda scared.”
the walk to her hotel consisted of numerous topics every five seconds seeing as the pair were both just as talkative as each other.
“wait have you ever been to japan?”
“yes! it’s so beautiful.”
“you should, i’ll be your tour guide.”
“you’re not even from there!” she said as y/n and martin broke out into another set of giggles. it seemed like the entire night was spent giggling.
“where else have you been?” she continued, eyes trailing down to the proximity of their hands.
“well, we’re in france right now.” she focused on martin as her body edged closer to his.
“i love it here though. i wish i didn’t have to leave.” she knew he wasn’t just talking about paris.
“you should definitely come more often.” she stated, the back of her hand now rubbing his.
martin took it as a sign and committed to holding her hand. this wasn’t left unnoticed by y/n who’s cheeks turned even pinker despite it being dark out.
the two awkwardly looked at each other before another combined laugh escaped their mouths. y/n turned to walk into the lobby waving goodbye at martin. she greeted the doorman as she continued towards the elevator. with each step, her urge to run back got worse and before she could tell herself no she had turned around, only to be facing martin edwards outside her hotel in the streets of paris. he hadn’t left yet.
y/n’s speed increased as she approached him and before he could speak, her lips were on his. the kiss lasted all of three seconds before they both broke apart, staring at each other in complete shock.
not because they regretted it but because neither of them could believe y/n had actually done it. martin's eyes were wide.
"oh." y/n immediately covered her face.
"oh my god." martin started laughing.
"i’m not calm!" he laughed again, running a hand through his hair. "my heart is literally beating so fast right now."
"It is?" y/n peeked through her fingers.
"oh." a grin slowly spread across her face.
now they were both smiling like idiots. paris was stupid. the entire city suddenly felt like a cliché romance movie and y/n hated how much she loved it. martin stepped closer again.
"i’m really glad you came back." the way he looked at her nearly made her forget how to speak.
"i was standing here trying to convince myself not to run after you."
"good. because I practically sprinted back." his smile widened.
“that’s so pisces of you!” she uttered, rolling her eyes playfully
“of course you would say that, you’re a gemini.”
“well then i think we might go really nice together.”
for a moment neither spoke. the busy paris street seemed quieter. the traffic sounded further away. the only thing y/n could focus on was martin. the only thing martin could focus on was y/n. which was exactly why the sudden yell made them jump.
"YAH!" both of their heads snapped toward the street. five familiar figures were standing halfway down the pavement.
"have you guys been there the whole time?" martin asked.
"since the hand holding," james replied immediately. y/n physically folded in half.
keonho was crying. actually crying. as if this was the funniest thing in the world to him (it was).
"we were taking bets!" he shouted.
"TAKING BETS?" martin yelled.
"we thought she'd do it first." seonghyeon spoke up.
"we won fifty euros." martin groaned and y/n couldn't stop laughing. she was laughing so hard she had tears in her eyes, which somehow made martin laugh too despite being horrified.
"this is the worst moment of my life."
"no it's not," james said. martin pointed at y/n.
"I literally just kissed her."
"That's probably the best moment of your life." the silence that followed was enough to make the members explode into cheers.
the rest of his sentence disappeared because y/n was laughing too hard to stand. and despite how embarrassing the situation was, despite the teasing he knew would continue for the next few weeks, despite the fact that he was going to have to confiscate at least three phones before they uploaded anything, martin couldn't stop smiling. because for the first time all week, they weren't about to say goodbye. y/n wiped tears from her eyes.
"you gonna ask for my number?" martin stared at her. then immediately reached for his phone. the members behind him erupted again. and somewhere in the middle of a paris street, with five idiots cheering in the background, martin finally got the feeling that maybe fate wasn't done with them yet.
as for y/n, she got the greatest inspiration for a song yet.
“you know edwards, if you kiss me one more time i might drop dead.”
“really huh? we should test that out.” were his last words before martin leaned in and y/n had no choice but to surrender to her feelings.
