[Has this feeling that he’s getting too nice, playing the guy who’s too friendly, and immediately tones the attitude down] Yeah, I guess so.

-Is caught off guard by the sudden change in tone bites his tongue to stop from giving a rude remark- So, how's your work going?

Trust me, it’s chronic. [Thinks back to multiple times he’s lashed out at Lana, the recent incident with Robbie, and all the other crap he’s gotten himself into over the years] I’m not gonna blame me, though.

-laughs slightly- Yeah, I guess you can't really blame yourself, shit happens that you can't really control sometimes. 

Don’t we all? [Smiles sourly, a far cry from genuine happiness or pleasure. Positive emotions are not something Kai indulges himself in often] You have window-breaking issues, and I have Chronic Asshole Syndrome.

-Laughs slightly without moving his lips- Yeah, I guess most people have issues of some kind, and you don't seem like that much of an asshole. 

I hate apologies. They’re empty words half the time—it makes more sense to not do something than to say something. [Kicks at the grass]

Yeah, yeah I guess they are empty words a lot of the time, but, for what it's worth, I really do mean it. I am sorry for what happened, I just, sometimes I -trails off, not wanting to go into details- I have issues I guess. -shrugs his shoulders, looking down at the ground- 

Yeah, don’t give me that crap. [Does his signature eye roll and upturning of the nose] Just don’t break anymore goddamn windows, you hear?

I, uh -just looks at the ground, not really knowing what to say, because he was actually sorry about it- Yeah, yeah sure I can do that. 

[Bristles when he hears a painfully familiar voice coming from up north, straightening out and giving Cody a look of contempt. He pauses before snarling,] Are you really doing this right now?

-Steps back when Kai stands to his full height, ever so slightly intimidated by the other boy.- I... I just wanted to apologise for what happened. I don't know what I was doing and I really regret it and I'm just, just sorry. 

[Circles around to the courtyard after his jog—the weather’s been a little milder than usual lately, so he’s been going outside more and more to escape work. He sighs as he stops to catch his breath, panting as unzips his jacket halfway and presses his hands against his bent knees]

-Notices Kai when he first enters the courtyard but ignores him, not particularly wanting to talk to the boy after their last encounter. However, as Kai circles the courtyard he passes Cody again, stopping nearby to catch his breath and despite knowing better, Cody moves towards him- I uh, I'm sorry about what happened before.
