Re:ZERO seems very, very immoral to me, because while on the surface it's saying "love yourself," everything else in the story constantly validates the notion that Subaru must basically be dog and doormat to Emilia camp and all his abusers, which is a very victim blamey message that makes me question Tappei's real life morals. A very "tell, don't show" author, all you feel reading the story is a vast sense of powerlessness. Of course, Roswaal is responsible for a lot of this, but then it's stripping Subaru and all others of their moral agency, especially with how much of the story is free indirect speech from Subaru's POV, to the point it feels like the author's agenda more than anything, i.e., satisfying some kinda kink of his where he has this one-sided obsession with Emilia while being cucked by Puck and being told he is wrong for every right thing he does.
