Things That Happen At A Muse Gig
Is it the first time you’ll see Muse? Here are a few things you should expect to experience during a Muse concert.
1.- You will show up early and there will be a lot of people in front of you. Even if you arrive at 8:00 am, there’s going to be hundreds of people in front of you. A lot of fans show up at midnight or even the day before.
2.- [Drill Sergeant] will start playing. Lights go out, everyone will shout “Aye Sir”, the band comes out and everyone go crazy.
3.- The audience will know which song would go next. All the people around you will know which song is the next just by change in the lighting or only by looking at Matt´s guitar.
4.- Balloons. They’re not simple balloons, they’re called hullabaloons
5.- You don’t sing the lyrics, you shout the lyrics. You might not even listen to yourself because everyone shouts so loud
6.- Munich Jam At the middle of the gig, Dom and Chris will play a drums and bass solo that will leave you breathless. You’ll see why they are one of the best bands of this century.
7.- Clapping TITS This is one of the best and funniest parts of a Muse concert. The band will start playing Starlight and everyone will start clapping. What you might not know, is that you’re not only clapping the chorus of the song, you’re clapping the word “tits” in morse code.
8.- Confetti During the song “Mercy” there will be columns of steam and a lot of confetti will fall down. People will fight for the confetti so be careful.
9.- The harmonica. Lights go out and Chris will start playing the harmonica, everyone knows that its the last song. He throws the harmonica to someone, but that someone isn’t you.
10.- Here come the Drones. At some part of the show, 16 drones will fly over your head. It sounds like a joke, but its not a joke.
11.- Jumping The last song of the gig is Knights of Cydonia and everybody knows it. All the people start jumping and ground will move, it´ll feel like a little earthquake and even if you don’t want to jump, you will move up and down with the crowd.
12.- Flying guitar At the end of Knights of Cydonia, Matt gets excited and throws his guitar to Dom… And sometimes he jumps onto the drumset as well.
13.- Cheers. Nobody will leave the venue until Dom says “Cheers”.
14 .- You´ll realise Muse does not fit into any music genre. Not pop, not alternative, not rock, not electronic, not classical… Just Muse.
15.- You’ll wait years in the merch line. C'mon, everyone wants a Muse t-shirt. or other memorabilia
16.- You’ll listen to Muse for the next days. You won’t stop listening to Muse because now you have a horrible post-conert depression, Muse fans call it Dark Shines. If you weren’t a Muse fan, now you definitely are.
17.- Next concert You’ll count everyday until Muse announces a new date in your country… It can take years or maybe they’ll announce a surprise gig that same day, but - who knows? Its Muse after all.
