That morning at SMP Santa Angela Bandung, I wasnβt in the classroom β I was on guru piket duty, holding the front line like it was mission control. Coffee in hand, I watched the day unfold: students rushing in, some trying the classic βIβm not late, Iβm just early for tomorrowβ excuse, others greeting me with the kind of energy only teenagers can pull off at 7 a.m. Between reminding them to tuck in their shirts and answering questions that had nothing to do with school rules (βSir, if you had a high-tech suit, could it get me out of math?β), I realized piket isnβt just about discipline β itβs about reading the room, catching moments, and maybe, just maybe, engineering a better start to someoneβs day.
