HEARTS OF OAK Ulverston, Cumbria
Commissioned mural depicting the last vessel built at Ulverston ship yard. A prawner called ‘Hearts of oak’ known as a Lancashire ‘Nobby’ built in 1912 which is still in service today. I wanted to reference the Ulverston of old (when it was still within the county of Lancashire), a moment in its history which is now long gone but the legacy of which still can be seen out on the waters of Morecambe Bay.
