Happy Home Spell Jar
As I said a few days ago, I have put together a spell jar for a happy home. I live in an apartment with three other girls so things can get a little crazy. Not to mention they are very religious, so I can’t necessarily tell them about what I do, but I have made this spell jar to be small and inconspicuous to help us all!
Here is what you need:
Small mason jar or any sealable jar
Rosemary - Keeps away bad dreams
Thyme - Bring happiness and health. Encourages compassion among the members of the household
Bay Leaf (1) - For protection and luck
Cinnamon (Stick or ground. I used ground because that is what I had on hand - brings happiness, protection and peace
Sesame seeds - to bring good health to the home.
Garlic - To protect the home from negative energies.
Cloves (whole or ground) - Bring warmth into the home.
Oregano - To bring peace and harmony
Basil - To encourage love, peace of mind and balance
A white candle (or the color you associate with purity, peace, and happiness)
A clear quartz Crystal.
Preparing the spell:
Light your candle and turn off the lights. If you cannot work by candle light, do leave the lights on. Be safe.
Ground yourself, focus on bettering the environment you live in both for yourself and anyone who lives with you. If need be, cast a protection circle.
Once you are grounded and feel ready, begin adding each of your herbs and sesame seeds. Focus on their intentions and energies as you add them to the little jar.
Once everything is added, seal the jar then place the quartz on top of the jar. Visualize the crystal pulling any negative energies that may remain in the jar, out, as the jar would disband the negative energies from the home.
Once you feel that the crystal has done it’s job, seal the jar with wax from the candle.
Take down your circle if you made one and extinguish the flame.
Place this jar in the common area of your home. I have mine next to some pictures where my roommates won’t notice it. Whenever you feel like the energy is getting stagnant or begins to feel off, either place the quartz on or near the jar and allow it to cleans the jar, or just give the jar a quick shake to recharge it.
Here is what my jar looks like. I have trouble with getting wax to behave, so it’s a bit messy, but it works.
If you don’t have some of these herbs at home, you can always leave them out or supplement with things you do have, or things you feel have an energy more fit for your home’s needs.
“I will no longer be hurt by memories from my past.” ~Spell Jar~
Ingredients-
Sage(Purity, Power)Clear Quartz(Clarity, Purification)Salt(Purification)Basil(Protection)Thyme(Healing)Black Salt(Banishment of Bad Memories)Rosemary(Ward Off Evil)Rose Petal(Self Love)Red String(To add power)
Description-
So, there’s no real need for steps on this one, you simply gather the ingredients and place them in the jar. You can also draw sigils, or say an incantation if you wish. I created this spell jar to help ward off bad memories from some trauma I experienced as a child, but it could be used for anything, and any memories you feel burdened by! You can place it by your bed, carry it around with you, and meditate with it whenever you feel burdened by those memories. (The picture featured a baby pentacle, my rose quartz, citrine, and some pretty dried marigold flowers I have!)
I hope this helped you all in some way, love you witchy babes!

Spell Jar Basics: Creating and Tailor-Making Your Own Spell Bottles & Jars
(Hello again, everyone! I’m back after a long hiatus - it feels good to be witching again!)
Spell jars are a great and easily modifiable way to do “slow-cooker” magic-stuff that doesn’t require a lot of active participation time, but the combined result is just as - if not more-potent.
THE COMPONENTS: THE JAR
You’ll need a jar, first of all - the size and shape of which should correspond to your intent, ideally. For smaller,”single-burner” spells, you might want a small, corked bottle you can balance a spell candle on. If you were to make a witches’ bottle for protection, you’d want something a little bigger, to hold all the ingredients, and probably something in an amber or other more opaque tone, so you can’t see inside.
Ideally, your jar or bottle would have a lid, for various spell-mechanics purposes-using the jar as a sealant, keeping the contents together while you shake it, and so on.
FILLING THE JAR
Next, you’ll need the components for the “spell” part. Assemble harmonious ingredients that are correspondent to your intent - for instance, if I were to assemble a spell bottle for balance, I’d try to grab some herbs and reagents correspondent to my intent (coriander, sea salt, and so forth), that are mostly yellow (the color I correspond with balance), and, perhaps, keep it down to 5 ingredients, which is the number I correspond with balance.
Fill the jar or bottle with these ingredients-this is you doing the prep work for your spell! If you intend to shake the contents to reactivate them every so often, for instance, you’d want to leave a bit of room at the top.
You might want to add some extra oomph to your jar for more heavy-duty spells, like tying correspondent ribbon around the jar, or inscribing a sigil or planetary symbol on it.
CASTING THE SPELL
Now that your spell preparations are complete, you’ll need to pick a good time to perform your spell, and choose a way to “activate” it - that is, a spell mechanic to set your intent in motion and do the actual “casting”.
For timing, you’ll want to pick something that, again, corresponds with your intent: You can use the waxing and waning tides of the moon to draw or remove something from your life, use sunsets and sunrises for manifestation and banishment, cast at high noon for an elemental fire influence, or on a clear, dark night for an honorary jar for Nyx - do a little research and listen to your gut!
As for the casting, you have a number of ways to go about it. Here are a couple of popular methods you can pick, mix, and match (but remember, you can always invent a more appropriate method for your own spell!):
Sealing with a Candle: An effective way to complete and cast your spell, with the added bonus of sealing in the contents of your jar for permanent magick. Choose the color of your candle according to your intent, inscribe it with a rune or sigil, anoint it with oil, or/and customize it in any way you see fit to correspond it with your intent and with the contents of the jar. Burn the whole candle at once to cast a spell in one go, or light the candle a little bit every night during the waxing or waning moon to draw or rid, respectively.
Burying the Jar: For spells involving the earth, staking a claim on your own property, magic you don’t want to reverse, or jars honoring cthonic spirits, bury your jar in the dirt, whether it’s in your yard or in a container.
Reversible Spells: Leave the jar’s lid or cork unsealed by wax, but firmly pressed on, perhaps with a string or ribbon to seal the magic in instead. If you ever have need to reverse the spell, you can open up the jar, safely unenchant and dispose of its contents, and clean out the jar with salt and water for later.
Recastable Spells: Leave a generous portion of room in your jar or bottle before sealing, and give it a vigorous shake when you want to re-cast.
Now go forth, and cast!
If you do make any spell jars, I totally want to see them! :>
Hullo everyone! 🌙
Here is an illustrated set of instructions I made on how to make a Positivity Spell Jar for my illustration class this past quarter.
What you’ll need:
A Jar
Lighter
Salt- for protection
Glitter-for fun
Candle- light and let melt around edges of jar to Cast Spell
Rosemary- for mental strength
Lavender- to keep calm
Citrine- for abundance
Rose Quartz- for love
Blue Thread- for harmony
—–
As you set each item into the jar focus on what they represent to you. Your magick and energy melding with each, coming from inside you and around you. Close off the jar and wrap the thread round the top of the jar. Light the candle, visualizing the flame as the energy casting the spell.
This can be modified to make absolutely any type of spell jar. Use different ingredients and colors to symbolize different things.
Enjoy!

i’ll probably expand on this later, but the best ADHD Hack ™ I’ve found/sussed out is:
bundle habits together, but don’t bundle tasks together.
Explain …
So okay. When you have ADHD, one thing your brain is very very good at doing is making connections between things- ideas, concepts, people, states of mind, etc. This can be a superpower- if most people wouldn’t think to make a connection between doing a) and b), and you make that connection, sometimes you can outthink people who aren’t as good at snapping things together.
The problem comes in when you start connecting things that you don’t need to connect, like “mild displeasure” with “OH GOD EVERYONE HATES ME” or “I feel a little crummy” with “I AM THE WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD”.
So when we’re talking about Life Skills/ADLs, you gotta use that power to make your life easier, not harder. You gotta connect things when it makes your life better and NOT do it when it makes your life harder.
Here’s an example of the habits:
I had a stretch of time where I was too sick to do much of anything. I could barely get out of bed to get to the bathroom. I was walking with a stick and generally just… le dead. And one of the problems I had was that I could almost never remember to take my morning meds.
I decided that the first time I got up to use the bathroom every day, I’d take my meds. That way I was taking them no matter how crap I felt- I had to get up to pee, like it or not- and it was getting done pretty early in the morning.
Getting up to pee meant taking my meds; they were the same thing. I didn’t have to remember to take my meds separately, or set an alarm to remind myself, or anything like that. I just did it as part of something I had to do anyway.
As time went on and I started getting better, I realized I could do the same thing with other parts of my routine. If you connect something you need to do with something you have to do, the thing you need to do gets done.
So like… say I’m already in the habit of getting up to take a shower. I’ve lived in crappy apartments my entire life, so the water takes a minute to warm up. Since my countertop dishwasher is right outside my bathroom door, I’ll take a second to empty and load the dishwasher while the water’s still heating up. It just becomes part of the routine of taking a shower.
You don’t have to think about Doing The Extra Thing. Connecting it to something you’re already doing means that, after a certain point, it just… happens, automatically.
The problem comes in when you start trying to do this with tasks- things that you only have to get done once, that already have a fair few steps to them. Especially if that task is has a lot of steps, has a time limit, or is otherwise Hard for you.
Figuring out tasks with dependencies (I have to do this before I can do this!) is already hard for us ADHDers. Sometimes what happens is that you bundle two tasks together- you decide you can’t do something until you’ve done the other thing, even though these tasks are in no way connected.
Here’s an example:
I have three packages I need to mail. One of them is a gift for a friend in Australia, which costs a lot of money; one of them is a package for my Etsy store which is Not Finished Yet, and one is a very late Christmas package.
I might decide, “hey, I need to mail all three of these packages together! I can’t mail any of these packages until I bundle all of them!” But it’s probably smarter to mail them separately! I don’t want to make my friend with the late Christmas package wait any more, so I can mail that first, and then mail the Australia package when I have the money and the Etsy package when it’s finished.
But if I insist that I have to bundle these tasks… I won’t get any of them done. I’ll be too stressed out about the Etsy package not being done to mail the other two packages, and then I will run out of money for the Australia package, and the Christmas package will not get sent til Labour Day.
If you’re stressed out about a task with a lot of steps, sometimes it’s worth it to check and make sure you’re not bundling multiple tasks together. Can you do the thing without doing the thing that comes before? Do you have to do the other thing immediately after?
Oh my God…you have just handed me the holy grail of life changing advice…
Like I already weirdly do this? The other day I needed to remember to go approve my timecards, but I wasn’t standing in the room where that task took place, so I clipped my keys to my purse and said “keys clanging = do your timecard approvals.” I do this ALL THE TIME. “When you pick up your wallet, think about the leftovers in the fridge you want to take to lunch.” They’re usually just temporary connections, but like. I could easily see making them permanent?
THANK YOU this is literally life-changing, especially the example with packages because I do stuff like that ALL THE TIME. Literally that exact thing, as though I can’t go to the post office twice. It’s RIGHT NEXT DOOR TO WORK why do I feel like I can only go once?!?
ADHD
I don’t have ADHD but I do have memory problems associated with fibromyalgia brain fog. This is how I build all my habits. It’s the only thing that works.
I take my morning meds when I get my morning tea. I take evening meds when I shower. Rituals are good for your brain.
