today marks two years since the release of "lunacy + the second naïveté" (which was my last full-length album). i was considering putting out a re-mastered version of the #lunacyalbum - integrating the corresponding explanations for each track, as i did with #nonsequitur - but i've been too busy researching for my next project "subaltern" (which i'm really excited about). what's more, i'm actually extremely happy with the original version "lunacy" + consider it one of the best things i've ever created. i was on cbc winnipeg last night. good experience being interviewed; but somewhat anticlimactic. the reporter had some good questions + i really appreciated the opportunity to share my perspective. however, the clip they used wasn't what i would have selected. and the way that the story was spun was a little frustrating. i thought their angle was going to be to show that there has been legit cause for concern in the south of the province re: back to school. whatever. at least the red room had its moment of being featured on the cbc. i much prefer doing podcasts though. @witchpoliceradio > cbc news. https://www.instagram.com/p/CTSAZzCFXYF/?utm_medium=tumblr

one year ago today: july 20th was the day when "leaving, presently" + my interview with @jay___richardson aired on @power97. though my music had been played on the radio a couple of times before (in austin, texas on @koopradio), this was the first time it had airplay in a place where i lived. and it happened to be a sister station of the only station i listened to in my youth (i.e. @1021theedge in toronto). it was a real honour that i don't take for granted; the first in a series of local features (i.e. @witchpoliceradio, @badgardeningadvice, @stylusmagazine + @pegcityplaylist), radio play across canada (most notably @trentradio with a couple more interviews + a half-hour pre-recorded live performance), and the most recent weekly spinning of tracks from #nonsequitur on @kfjc897fm. all this to say, i'm profoundly grateful to power et al over this past year for seeing value in what i create. thank you. #nonsequitur is now available for use via instagram stories. (somehow, "breaking the fourth wall" flew under the radar). my other releases aren't there yet because there are copyright issues (as i often incorporate audio samples into my songs from shows or talks that are meaningful to me). that being said, if/when my other music is available, it seems as though you're not going to be able to find "automaton" (sampled: slavoj žižek), "signal synchronization" (sampled: peter rollins), "the manticore" (sampled: tim nash), "quetzalcoatl" (sampled: audio from "the x-files"), "pacific" (sampled: audio from "dark") + "ephemeral" (sampled: audio from "legion"). i may have a work-around for my version "ephemeral" (i.e. removing jemaine clement's voice). "leaving, presently" was the second single from my 2019 album "lunacy + the second naïveté." the song was released two years ago today. curiously, it's always the most difficult times that forge the best art...this one was the result of a close friendship being lost...it's my sarcastic response to being rejected (because i didn't fit into the right boxes anymore). it was also the first song that got played on the radio in winnipeg (i.e. last july on @power97). so, mixed feelings about this song for me; but mostly good, because it's a track that i'm really proud of creating. and maybe it'll resonate with you if you've ever been cold-shouldered/dropped by someone you used to know. https://www.instagram.com/p/CQH8e4ZgYhI/?utm_medium=tumblr
