Seems I'm all I need I'm finally on my own Yeah I'm all I need I'm finally on my own ~ My dad didn't call on my birthday this year. This was the first time. He is alive up North renovating a hotel. I tried to call him in February but was directed by the receptionist to leave a message. I heard his voice say: "Tell her I'll call her back." And he never did. I love this song and this chorus reminds me of him. I think to be alone is what he's wanted all our lives more than anything. But it's embarrassing to be left as an adult. Part of me thinks, "Why not sooner?"

It's interesting reading this now, because this is one of the first things I wrote for Cath and it's not how she sounds anymore

Now that it’s all over, and now that we can’t go back, I’ll tell you what it was really like to crawl through her coat of pine drifting needles that one and only summer of relief when earth roped out like teal jewellery for us as we ran for cover from the kisses of the Green Fleet, launching ourselves at the legs of Fort Fir, then up through her belly, our faces stuffed with sharp green straw as we pushed our way inside.

Listening to music before bed. I saw Adolescence of Utena tonight in theatres and driving home the sun was setting but it was the bright go down. The sky shone in bands of orange, brown, green and blue. The clouds were darker than the sky because of all the light

I was given gift cards for my birthday recently! And I've always loved to use gift cards for books. Reading adds such an interesting texture to my life - I can feel it in the times I am reading often versus not. Of these books, I need to whittle down which should I should get physical copies of and which I should just should download a free PDF of and slide onto my Kobo. Part of me thinks...I would not care to see 'The Lonely City' in my actual work room. Idk :~) I am just about finished Childhood by Tove Ditlevsen (wow!) and will do more thinking after that. I would also like to read Moby Dick but maybe Christmas holidays are a better time for that
