Diplodus vulgaris y Acetabularia acetabulum - Villajoyosa
Kikutaro Baba’s Cyerce (Cyerce kikutarobabai) is named after the Japanese malacologist Kikutaro Baba (malacology is the field of science dealing with the study of mollusks). Individuals grow to be around 8mm long and live widely spread throughout the Indo-west Pacific. Unlike many other Cyerce’s, the Cyerce kikutarobabai’s flattened cerata are actually slightly inflated!

Coral Reef (by only_point_five)
Contrary to popular belief, coral reefs are actually made up of thousands of tiny animals, coral polyps, that secrete a hard carbonate exoskeleton (that makes up the corals) and build off of the skeletons of dead animals. They house 1/3 of fish species in the ocean. Making up one of the most diverse ecosystems on earth (behind rainforests) corals live off zooplankton and photosynthesize.
They’re comparable to both plants and animals in this way.

The Hagfish
Hagfish
They are the only living animals that have a skull but not a vertebral column. Considered the most “disgusting” marine animal, when captured and held e.g. by the tail, they secrete the microfibrous slime, which expands into a gelatinous and sticky goo when combined with water; if they remain captured, they can tie themselves in an overhand knot which works its way from the head to the tail of the animal, scraping off the slime as it goes and freeing them from their captor, as well as the slime. hagfish can feed upon and often even enter and eviscerate the bodies of dead and dying/injured sea creatures much larger than themselves. They are known to devour their victims from the inside
Sleeper Shark (by Krysteene Hoenir)
The sleeper shark is one of two animals (one being the sperm whale) who will feed on a mature giant or colossal squid.
