At the end of the long media day, Charles realizes someone is closely following him and Andrea out to the parking lot. He smiles, somehow recognizing the presence just from the footsteps. Even if he didn’t, Andrea’s exasperated and slightly wary face would give away who it was anyways.
As it is, Charles is completely unsurprised when he makes it to his rented car and feels someone hovering over right up against his back before he can open the door to get in.
“You think you’re very funny, don’t you,” Max’s voice comes from behind him, low and angry.
Charles’ smile widens, even as Andrea dives into the passenger side seat, eager to escape the strange courting ritual.
“I do not know what you mean,” he answers Max flippantly, still facing away from his boyfriend, casually twirling the key fob around one finger.
“No,” Max’s hand is suddenly on him, clenching the hem of his shirt, crushing the #44 in his fist, “Don’t play dumb, Charles. You know what everyone is thinking?”
“No. Maybe you are needing to tell me.”
The frustrated curse Max mutters in response makes a thrill shoot through him. He needs to bite his lip to hold in his happy gasp when Max’s chest is suddenly against his back, his free hand gripping his hip to keep them pressed together.
“Here is what’s going to happen,” Max mutters darkly, his mouth brushing against the shell of Charles ear, “You are coming to my hotel room tonight. “I figured,” his trainer mutters, “You go have your fun, while I try to figure out where we’re going to get the make up to cover up whatever marks you show up with tomorrow.”
Charles blushes, staying silent because history shows that Andrea knows exactly what to expect when Charles emerges from Max’s hotel room tomorrow morning. He has no defense.
But any embarrassment melts away quickly as Charles drives away from the paddock, and soon a giddy smile is back on his face, already anticipating how good it will feel to have Max’s full, jealous attention.
