Kyoto, 2016 & 2017

A short video about my work with the master artisans printers at the Benrido Atelier in Kyoto. I spent two amazing weeks there learning about the collotype process and doing some amazing prints. I miss the smell of ink and the noise of the old machines.

today is the 'Campo Aberto in Collotype' exhibition opening. I'm using the house of the great artist Hashimoto Kansetsu (1883-1945), built in 1916 in Kyoto. I fell in love with this place the first time I visited it last year. I was amazed by how the natural light gets inside it through several big doors and how the ambience changes depending on the time of day. The pictures were attached on eight reclaimed wood blocks. The exhibition goes on until may 7th.
