The object I chose was something you could call an ottoman or a bin. The design of this was inspired to hold whatever you needed it to hold ( I chose shoes), a place to sit or even to use as a stepping stool while still having a pretty design. Something that may be important about the design to whoever made it was if it was useable for more than one thing, has an aesthetic pattern and easy to be moved. If I had to describe it to someone who had never seen this object, I would say that it’s a circular bin type of storage unit with a plush cover and girly design. The ineherent constraints is that this ottoman/ bin was mostly made for storage also including the size of the object and how heavy it is. The imposed constraint would be the pattern and material.

The problem I deal with weekly is that the furniture in my room does not move. The furniture in my sorority house is bolted against the walls and into the floor. This stops me from being able to clean in between tight spaces, getting items that have fallen through the cracks and makes it difficult for making my bed. I can assume that our house owner might not want us moving around the furniture and wants everyone’s room to look the same and as a safety hazard. But if I were to inspire someone to tackle the problem it would be to un screw the furniture and just have monthly room checks to see that the furniture has not been moved around. Also maybe design heavier furniture so that it is not moveable for someone to move easily. My first step would be sketching a few designs of different furniture listing the materials that I would use, after researching heavy and sturdy materials at a good cost.
