i need to start off by saying you can think beyonce is talented without denying that taylor swift is talented. the beauty of music being art is that we literally don’t have to choose between one or the other. they can coexist in your mind, they have different skill sets. i don’t understand why you have to tear taylor down to acknowledge that beyonce is incredible and works extremely hard? people fucking love beyonce?? nobody is denying her talent, her work ethic or her success??

it makes me laugh that people still think vocal range is the ultimate determinant of talent. have you ever been to a taylor swift tour? read any reviews? i can assure you her show is far from mediocre.

HOLD THE FUCK UP. taylor swift literally changed the genre of country music forever?? she completely revitalised the genre by engaging a new and young audience from the moment she entered the scene at the age of 16. country music is infused now more than ever with pop influences because of the songs she wrote and made popular? i’m 2 sentences in to your idiocy and i’m starting to think you don’t actually know anything about her at all. 

the most hardworking and self-critical artist out there who does not sleep until she watches that day’s performance and takes notes for herself and others?

why are you insinuating that taylor swift doesn’t work as hard as Beyonce or other artists in the industry? first of all she writes and co produces all of her music. secondly she owns her own management company and is therefore responsible for all business related decisions. she is responsible for the planning of her tours and the arrangements of the songs she performs on them. she has from the beginning of her career put more time than anyone, including/especially beyonce, into developing relationships with her fans. she once held a 14 hour meet and greet. 14 HOURS. she has invited nearly 400 fans into her homes. SHE WENT OUT AND BOUGHT PEOPLE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS WORTH OF GIFTS PACKAGED THEM HERSELF AND SENT THEM TO THEIR HOMES. SHE DOES 3 MEET AND GREETS ON SHOW DAYS. FOR FREE. say what you like about taylor but please don’t insult her by saying she doesn’t work hard because that is a lie and some grade a bullshit. 

who’s put out albums with countless hits, the last two being the most well put together and labor-intensive artworks that literally told a story and sent out a message? many of the songs written by herself? who addresses real issues that pertain to women and/or black people? who actually stands for something?

1. i don’t doubt that Beyonce is heavily involved in the creative direction of her music but i feel like it’s a stretch to say she writes her own songs….over 72 people have writing credits on lemonade…

2. thematically, taylor swift’s music isn’t as heavy as lemonade, but how could you expect it to be? she isn’t a black woman, she’s led a privileged life…. she writes about her own life experiences and guess what? a lot of people connect with it. don’t say she doesn’t stand for anything as if she is devoid of any personal ethos. people relate to her because she does her own thing. 

while mediocre white women like taylor swift get a net worth of $250+ million for doing absolutely nothing other than existing

i actually feel sorry for you. there are billions of mediocre white woman on planet earth and taylor swift is not one of them. do you honestly think you become as successful as she is just by being born white? i’m not gonna deny that she was born into a great situation but taylor is smart, she is a once in a generation song writer and she has worked really fucking hard for everything that she has. taylor swift doesn’t just exist. how insulting. she regularly does things for other people. she’s been the most charitable celeb for like 4 years in a row?? she isn’t just important to me she’s important to millions of people around the world. that’s evidenced by her success. 

oh fuck both options are so painful idek like which one is more angsty??? that’s the option i’ll pick.

if it’s the first one god imagine it. he sees her and he thinks he’s hallucinating at first because no way can this be real she can’t be here. but then she runs towards him and throws her arms around him so reminiscent to the s2 hug that he stumbles back and he’s completely frozen because fuck this is real she is real and then he just completely breaks down and starts crying and they both hug for the rest of the episode the end this ep is just 40mins of bellarke hugging each other and sniffling and they’re probably on the ground because his knees buckled and i’m on the ground because all 7 emotions bodyslammed me there.

We took these super efficient killing machines and befriended them and now they love and protect us as much as we (ideally) love and protect them

Cats basically domesticated themselves so that they could share in our food, medical care, and affection

In urban spaces, prey species know that there’s a higher likelihood that humans will help you if you’re stuck or injured than them killing or maiming you

It’s just, over time we see trends of our species overcoming environmental pressures that would and do lead to extinction in other species by sharing and forming close bonds with other sentient organisms and just kinda… aggressively community-bonding our way out of it?

For a long time there’s been this pervading idea that we, as a species, are just innately violent and terrible and “sinful” and it’s been that violence that let us survive (see the hunting hypothesis of human evolution). But that’s not what we see

We are, at our core, a species that looks into the face of something other, and thinks “I wonder if they want to be friends?” so long as the individual isn’t actively trying to kill us. Sure, tons of people do awful things every day, but for every terrible act or thought on this Earth, there are a dozen acts of kindness that people do casually for complete strangers

So yeah. We looked at these massive fluffy monsters with the sharp claws and crushing jaws rooting in our garbage just beyond the campfire and thought, the way no other species before or after us has done to the same extent; “They look friend-shaped!”

This was BY FAR the best thing I’ve seen today.
