( lewis pullman, cisgender man, he/him ) SPOTTED: CLARK SANDERS in new york city! heard the THIRTY THREE year old belongs to THE RESERVE as a ENFORCER. word on the streets is that they can be FRIENDLY but they can also be RELENTLESS
Clark grew up as the youngest of four in a family full of women. Born and raised in Burlington, Vermont, he only knew his father up until he was 10 years old. One day, his dad was there, the next, his mother was packing up his fatherâs things, and his sisters were explaining to him that his father had left with some woman he had met at work.Â
The resentment of his father grew over the years, but for the most part, his mother and his sisters kept him from becoming a total asshole. He was a shy kid at first. In high school, he preferred to keep to his studies. During his sophomore year, he tried out for the baseball team and found he was actually a pretty damn good hitter. With the help of his high school coach, he became a contender, and suddenly his shyness started to melt away.Â
He won two championships with his high school baseball team. Started dating a cheerleader named Janet and became known around town. He enjoyed it. Liked helping out the elders and the kids. He felt like he belonged somewhere, and he knew his purpose.Â
On the same day that he received a call from a college baseball coach offering him a full ride, his middle sister, Angela, was killed in a train accident on her way to a conference in New York. Her death hit their family hard and rocked Clarkâs world even harder.Â
He took the full scholarship, taking the chance to get out of Vermont but the grief was too much for him. He wasnât doing well in his classes. He couldnât focus on his game. And he eventually became one of the best players that never was.Â
Clarkâs 20s are a haze of partying and disappearing, making money, losing money, getting into fights, and sleeping with peopleâs wives. A mess of a man, he eventually ended up with a shitty apartment in New York, looking for work so he could have a meal each day. What he learned through his random work was that he had a certain set of skills, and they could be used as an asset if he played his cards right.Â
Which he did, and heâs been working for the reserve for the past three years. A shell of who he used to be, Clark still tries to believe in the kindness of strangers, and his mother and sisters still call him every week to make sure he hasnât totally fucked up his life. But heâs grown a lot in the past three years. Got his act together and tries to use his anger for good. Kind of.Â
He sees being an enforcer as a way to keep the scales balanced and to prove his loyalty to the Harrigans. He doesnât mind getting his hands dirty one bit, and heâs not one to question a request. He just gets the job done.Â
Headcanons:
He uses it to his advantage that he doesnât really look like a guy who gets into a lot of fights. He kind of enjoys that people underestimate him.Â
Loves being outside. Will sometimes disappear for the weekend to go camping upstate. He has a phone that only Ellie can reach him on when heâs off the grid.Â
Likes to take care of people, which makes him think of his sisters. But is terrible at letting people take care of him. He plays it pretty close to the chest.Â
Kind of on the nose for his past, but his preferred method of violence is using a baseball bat.Â
Lives in Queens because he feels like people are less likely to visit him because he lives in Queens. Is friends with all the old couples heâs neighbors with. Likes to help them out when he can. Itâs one of the few times he feels like his former self.Â
His preferred mode of transportation is his pickup truck. He doesnât care if he has to deal with New York traffic.Â
