Just before our monsoon season became more intense, I came across this beautiful Common Sailor butterfly at Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve (new extension) at Kranji Way. This type of butterfly is commonly found at mangroves and wetland reserves such as Sungei Buloh. It flies around like a sail, floating gracefully over the plants along the walking trails and at the mangrove boardwalk too, especially at the Coastal Trail. I've been to Sungei Buloh many times but always could not get a photo of this little one. This time, I was very lucky and it was very hot, bright and sunny too:) Taken with my much loved D7100 and trusty 200-500 mm Nikkor lens. All the birds, insects and wildlife are all taken with my D7100, 200-500 mm lens or the 40mm Nikkor Micro lens. It's a wonderful combination if you are on a very tight budget like me where every cent and every shot matters, and is very cost effective when you need to save money and cannot spend a lot on your gears. #nparksbuzz (at Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve)

This is a record shot of a large hawk cuckoo at Fort Siloso. Taken on a very cloudy and drizzly day. As light dimmed towards 4 pm, the large hawk cuckoo, an uncommon migrant finally appeared and delighted all the birders there. f/5.6 ISO4000 1/800 +1.3 320mm (at Fort Siloso)
