i also wonder if my perspective on oppenheimer might change with a rewatch cuz planing the barbenheimer double feature was soo hectic and last minute, after barbie i was prolly too tired for a 3 hour film.

there’s a lot of praise for the mirror system they built for the imax camera, but in some scenes you could kind of tell the actors weren’t really looking at each other…. and charlize is also getting a lot of flak, but i just think her scenes were bad because the dialogue was bad (but tbf lupita had even less to work with but made the most of it 😭)…idk… maybe it's also bc of the what is it?? 3 minutes of filming you get with an imax camera??? every scene felt rushed when this is not a story that should rely so heavily on memory montages😭

i thought matt damon was fine but tom cruise might still get the sympathy oscar

the odyssey was fun and it was poorly written… two things can exist at the same time!! people really have to stop treating art like it’s a sport, which is crazy cuz even in sports, teams have good days and bad days, and there’s nuance in both!!… it’s so annoying how every art/artist has to be generational or dogshit.. there’s never an in between…. especially with "historical accuracy" buffs.. it’s not a history lesson, let go of your pearls!!!

zendaya gets so much hate from racists that she’s become a “blind spot” celebrity in that it’s become very hard to criticize her, and tom holland gets the kind of hate that’s usually reserved for partners of male pop stars/actors…it’s very bizarre😭 i think marvel is just tom holland’s range, and that’s okay bc he plays it well, not everyone has to be generational!! and i think zendaya needs to do something different, it can’t always be detached characters or dead wife montages.

lowkey idk if rereading the book before seeing the movie helps or hinders the viewer... on one hand, the movie just about gets away with jumping from one storyline to the other bc the book filled in the gaps. on the other hand, it’s kind of annoying that a lot of things weren’t explored... like, a little magic wouldn’t have hurt... idk... christopher nolan, where’s your whimsy??!!
