          “You okay?” Nari asked.

          “Yeah, I’m fine…” Vianna said, glancing around the group. “But where’s Levina?”

          Just as Nari went to speak, the sound of tearing metal—similar to a tortured, grueling shriek—turned their heads. It came from about a dozen cabins ahead. Followed by a man’s yell and the destruction of over a dozen cabin doors as the man crashed through all of them.

          He flew past everyone else, crashing into the end of their cabin. The metal bar wrapped around his body pinned him to the floor. It was one of the train’s safety poles. Warped and repurposed.

          He broke into pathetic cries as a pair of boots clicked further down the train. Levina strode toward everyone at an even pace, eyeing her unfortunate opponent at his spot on the grooved floor. Sparks of electricity from the lights overhead framed her entrance.

          A new pair of dangling spike earrings highlighted the sharpness in her eyes.
