But mortal hands build clever tools, and these last few hundred years I have lived in dread that they will break this, my sacred stone, the last link that preserves me, a faint shadow of a forgotten god. While my sacred stone stands, I do not, quite, fade away.
I am in a park, now, clipped and tamed, my forests long gone. But they landscape around me and my stone, admiring its beauty, so I do not complain. While they take pleasure in the stone, I am safe.
There is a playground a few lengths away, and the laughter and happy shrieking rouse me a little from my sleep. I watched over children, once. Itβs nice to hear them again.
But I donβt truly awaken until the Offering is made.
Little hands touch my stone, with curiosity and a sort of reverence that only the very young feel now. For a child young enough the world is still a mystery, and even an ancient granite stone provokes wonder. So I stir, when she touches the stone, becoming hazily aware.
And then, solemnly, the child places a tiny colourful object in the roughly shaped alcove in the stoneβs side, the place where offerings were laid two thousand years ago and more, and I awaken. Many people have put things in that alcove, of courseβ¦ to take pictures, usually, these days, or putting a lost object where it will be seen. Merely to place an object in the alcove isnβt enough. A true offering is given as a gift, with intent.

I'm really a sucker for All!27 / Arco!27 stories ESPECIALLY time travel where Tsuna lived in the past and became the Arcobaleno's Sky just by being him (before the Curse) and then reincarnates into the current timeline and AAAAAAAAA THE PINNING, THE LOST LOVE, THE β¨ANGSTβ¨ππ
R27 is simultaneously awesome and on a deeper look, tragic. Yeah Tsuna and Reborn would be awesome and rule the world but it would also imply that after Luce, the only Sky Reborn could ever Harmonise with and let into his heart is one he handcrafted. On that same strain we should also give Tsuna more credit as he's the most powerful Vongola Sky and wouldn't get swept away just like that, especially when he became an adult, especially as Skies are designed to do the sweeping away in the first place, but it's says a lot that the person who he let into his life is Reborn, someone who was contractually obligated to never betray him when they met and then probably hardcore Harmonised him all kinda ways later on so he could not betray him. Yeah R27 is extremely fun and badass on the surface, but a deeper look reveals a messy messy tapestry but damn it if those two didn't belong together, and damn it if they weren't an interesting combination.
This is the appeal to the pairing for me. Reborn and Tsuna are, by their natures and circumstances, kind of broken in complementary ways.

I absolutely love R27(aged up Tsuna of course) cos at that point Tsuna is so desensitized to chaos and violence and just zen you know? So Reborn's chaos meshes especially well... And also what is anyone going to do against the Vongola Decimo and The Greatest Hitman in the World? The badass potential is delicious!
Yeah R27 with Older!Tsuna works real well with me because obviously like you said Tsuna is used to Reborn's bullshit by then, they'd make one hell of a fucking team, and I find something perfectly right and fucked up about the fact that the Sky Reborn finally accepts is the one he basically handcrafted.
