and i said “hey man, isn’t it poetic that the sky is what we leave behind?” because i was born into the world on a silken cloud and i got bored of the world before i hit the g r o u n d .
alex tapped his foot impatiently on the concrete below him as he stood behind the table that he had put out. it was simple enough, a way to try to get the members of key deep enthused about the productions that were coming up. they had lost their last batch of older volunteers because of schedule conflicts, so they needed more people. when alex heard about it, he almost had a heart attack, wishing that he could go and ask his grandfather for advice. he wasn’t even supposed to be in charge.
“hey!” he called out with gusto to a passerby. “do you have a second? i was wondering if you’d mind taking a look into supporting your local theater!” alex truly hoped this would work and that he wasn’t just an idiot standing behind a table with a table cloths taped to it and a small sign that said ‘mun’s playhouse!’

a dimly glowing light bulb buzzed dully overhead, melding poorly with the jukebox’s current dreary country ballad. the single glass window was darkened by a late night sky, giving those inside the bar a view of the mostly empty parking lot, save for the occasional stray car, harley, or big rig pulling in for a late night drink. it was nearly a ghost town inside, more tables and stools remaining empty than occupied as carcosa moved her eyes around the room.
one form in particular caught her gaze: a familiar regular that had spent more time with their thoughts occupied by something unseen than the laminated menu before them. “you’ve been awfully quiet tonight.” the bartender chimed. “haven’t even ordered a drink yet.“ her hip lightly rested against the opposite side of the bar, leaning forward and placing her chin in the palm of her hand. “what’s on your mind?”
felix was in a mood. his uncle often chided that he was always in a mood, always just not quite as pleasant as he should be. it made felix want to punch something when they got into arguments like that, which was what had transpired before he took his seat at the bar stool. the only regret that felix had was that he didn’t get to shower before he came to get his bourbon. most nights he wanted to drown himself, drown his own existence into a muddled mess of shapes and blurs.
when the feminine voice spoke before her, he had to close his eyes for a moment to try to forget the one voice he could never hear again. “i’m just,” he started, trying to figure out the proper words to say, “think. i guess.” felix left it at that as his eyes collided with the girl’s own. “just give me a bourbon.” he leaned back in his barstool before he set his eyes on to look out the windows into the night sky. how long had he just sat thinking? what did he even think about? half the time, he didn’t really think he needed booze to feel not sober.
Max was in his own little world. He had to run for a pick up for the store, and wanted to be back to the store. And god he needed coffee. He didn’t even see the poor person on the sidewalk before he collided with them, dropping the box to help the other up. “I’m so sorry. Are you okay?”
hazel wasn’t much into mornings. mostly because she never had much to do in the morning, it was when her own mind ran rapid. the only time she was ever in her own head was when she had stayed up until ten am to wake up at eight pm and find out that she had fucked up her chaotic sleep schedule. she was just about to walk into the coffee shop she frequented, because it was a long walk back to the motel from the beach where she wandered to after work, but found herself colliding with a body instead. it didn’t take much inertia to push her down, finding her ass meeting concrete. she immediately regretted not putting on her tights that were kept in her bag, instead having her practically bare ass scratched by the harsh surface.
she didn’t admit to the tears that immediately came into her eyes. she almost refused to look up at the person (now knowing it was a male by his voice) who pushed her. hazel ignored the hand, standing up on thin, shaky legs as she tried to collect herself. “why the fuck did you run into me?” she demanded, brown eyes finally colliding with the man’s. at least an uglier person could have shoved her down, she reasoned weakly with herself.
have you seen FELIX HARRISON around key deep? a THIRTY FOUR year old CIS!MALE known for their career as a MECHANIC. most folks see them as INDEPENDENT & PROTECTIVE, but others would say that they’re pretty DISTANT & RECKLESS. those closest to them often associate them with BLOODY KNUCKLES, CIGARETTE SMOKE, LATE NIGHT BAR FIGHTS. frequently they find themselves being mistaken for BOB MORLEY.
tw: drug abuse, miscarriage, overall rowdy-boy
from a young age, felix prided himself in being the best. he never took no for an answer and would persevere until the job was done. he was never the brightest guy, never finding it the easiest to be a scholar, but he would be damned if anyone ever saw him fail.
his stubbornness was brought to him from his father, who would often support him in any way he possibly could. the man would offer the skin off his own back for his son. being a single parent, his father was felix’s role model.
nothing was impossible, the world was at his hands, but he fell down the wrong path and did it fast. when he was twenty-three, he was going to community college in ohio where he found himself mixed with the wrong people.
he wasn’t ashamed of smoking pot, but these people were on some other level from him. they would gloat about being able to smoke meth and how they could do so much. it made him only want to show off just what he could do.
his only policy was that he refused to pay for it. nothing was ever paid for. the people he hung with would give him his fix for free. he was on top of the world, getting an expensive fix for free and he knew he was living the good life. he had dropped out of college and decided to instead just ride his life out.
everything changed when his father passed at twenty-five. he never knew what truly feeling alone was until he lost the one man he could go to for advice. he didn’t know where to turn, so he turned to his only constant in his life.
at a party he had gone to, he met a girl with beautiful blonde hair and striking green eyes. they pulled him out of the bleakness that surrounded him, enamored him and held him captive. he loved her. he wanted nothing but to see her smile.
her name was alicia, and she was the only thing that he cared about. her and meth. she was also addicted, and often they would stay in her house and do drugs and simply exist together. it was perfect. it was his new addiction.
when they were twenty-seven, she found she was pregnant, and they were so excited her carried her through the house cheering and hollering that they were going to make the best parents ever. that their life was going to be fixed by this child.
the child died in the second trimester. and alicia was never the same. alicia refused to be touched, refused to eat. she buried herself in drugs and tried to forget about her life. felix wasn’t strong enough to pick her out of it. wasn’t strong enough to refuse her when she asked for more and more. she passed away around the time their child was supposed to be born. felix couldn’t hold back the laughter through his tears as he thought of the irony.
that was when he spiraled. he let the drugs take over, he often fought, swore, kicked, and screamed at anyone who crossed him. he became a different person. alicia was gone and took felix with her. he was a husk.
at thirty and three charges of aggravated assault under his belt, he did drugs for the last time. he took enough drugs to be awake for fifteen days, tweaking and unsure of anything because of how high he was, and afterwards he slept for an additional seven days.
it was his wake up call, imagining seeing alicia shaking her head in disappointment at him from heaven. he checked himself into rehab, where he got clean, found himself centered, and knew that he had to escape. he couldn’t remain in ohio anymore.
he left to work at his uncle’s mechanic shop, where he’s been ever since. but he still finds himself drinking and going to clubs, mostly to feel something again. he also enjoys the occasional bar fight.
have you seen OLIVIA “HAZEL” RODRIGUEZ around key deep? a TWENTY year old FEMALE known for their career as a STRIPPER. most folks see them as BUBBLY & STARRY EYED, but others would say that they’re pretty ALOOF & SELFISH. those closest to them often associate them with BODY GLITTER, STROBE LIGHTS, CIGARETTES UNDER THE STARS. frequently they find themselves being mistaken for AMANDA ARCURI.
hazel originally went by olivia, olive, or liv when she lived in cocoa beach , but that was before she started her new life in key deep. she grew up in a overly religious and successful house, where everything was basically paved for her.
her mother was a successful merchandiser while her father was a pediatrician. she was forced by her family to be prim and proper. her hair was always in a bob, clothing always bought by her parents, and she was not allowed to hang out with anyone outside of her church.
her siblings were fine with the harsh lifestyle, finding solace in the stifling restraints that their parents put on them. olivia wasn’t finding it easy to settle down and allow her life to be dictated by her parents.
she often snuck out at night to simply find something to do, finding herself in the company of an older teen named rick. he was twenty when she was fifteen, and it didn’t take long for it to become fast pace.
he convinced her easily that he loved her and that they were never going to be apart. they made big dreams of moving away and starting a new life away from the pressure of her family.
her biggest dream was to be a dancer, she would often dance in her room with her ipod blasting pop music that her parents would be disappointed in her listening to.
she started to see that the world was bigger than just her small church and sheltered life. it was so close to her fingers and by the time she was seventeen and rick was twenty-one, they decided to run away.
they drove south, further and further, until they reached key deep. they were excited to be together forever and she never even noticed when he would try to keep his distance from her.
when they arrived to their new life, that was when she became hazel to hide her identity from prying eyes, wearing wigs that rick would offer for her when he looked at her. to support their lifestyle, they stayed in a motel and rick did odd jobs around the city. hazel didn’t know what to do, so she simply just started trying to find anything to do.
she started at a coffee shop for a year, lying about her age with her fake id and social brought by rick, making it easier for her to slip through the cracks. it didn’t take long before it wasn’t enough money.
they both fell down the route of becoming potheads, lovingly cuddling and spending nights talking about their future. it didn’t take long for rick to pressure her to try more and more. by the time she was eighteen, she could do enough lines to spell rick’s first and last name.
one night, rick pressured her that she should dance, that she was a beautiful dancer. he told her to be a stripper, that she could make plenty of money for them. she hesitated for a few days, but when he threatened to leave her, she agreed with her eyes filled with embarrassed tears.
long story short, she wasn’t very popular in the strip club. as a topless dancer, she found herself being ignored for women who had better chests and being pushed aside for women who were more voluptuous.
she was stuck with the weirdos, the ones who likes them small and thin and young. she was stuck with the people who wanted her to call them daddy or to play out some sick fantasy.
rick left when she was nineteen, leaving a note in their motel room that he just didn’t like her anymore. it made her regret the tattoo he got of his first initial on her ass. not for the last time, she cried tears of embarrassment.

have you seen ALEXANDER “ALEX” MUN around key deep? a TWENTY FOUR year old CISMALE known for their career as an ACTOR. most folks see them as OUTGOING & BOISTEROUS, but others would say that they’re pretty BULLHEADED & VAIN. those closest to them often associate them with ALCOHOL LACED KISSES, LATE NIGHT CALLS, FALLING IN LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT. frequently they find themselves being mistaken for AHN HYO SEOP.
alex was born to two parents who didn’t really want kids. it was as if he was more of a chore to take care of than anything. so from a very young age, he learned how to take care of himself and do what he needed to do to survive.
it wasn’t until his grandfather took him in at ten did he really know what it was like to have a family member. suddenly he was being showered in love and affection and his grandfather was even granted custody over him.
his grandfather was very invested in the theater, opening a playhouse in key deep with a friend back in the seventies where people had the chance to become noticed in the acting field or just people who had a passion for it.
taking after his grandfather, he also got into acting and found himself very drawn into musicals. his first major performance was junior year as jack from into the woods. he remembers fondly how his grandfather gave him a bouquet of flowers for the job well done.
when he had graduated from high school, he became more invested in mun’s playhouse, as his grandfather was getting older and older. he wanted to take the playhouse over after his grandfather passed, but hoped it would never happen.
it was all going well, until his grandfather started forgetting the simple things. he often would become angry when he misplaced his things, easily confused and agitated. it didn’t take long before alex finally convinced his grandfather to go to the doctor.
they were shocked to find that he was suffering from dementia. it didn’t take long before suddenly alex found himself terrified to realize he would have to step up sooner, but he refused to let anyone else know about the situation. he didn’t want everyone to worry or to remember his grandfather negatively.
there are occasions where alex feels like he is in way over his head, especially when his grandfather forgets who he is or thinks that he is going to work when he can’t work anymore. alex pretends that everything is fine, that he is okay with the life he is leading. he can’t admit to anyone that he feels scared and unsure.
alex’s hobbies include gaming, gardening, and he likes sleeping. that’s about all that matters about him so hey just hmu for plots!!
