writing a thesis has me like wait, what's my source for Christ being the Christian God
the thing about “well-behaved women rarely make history” is that the author, Laurel Thatcher Ulrich, didn’t write it about women who would be considered “badly-behaved;” she wrote it in a book about a midwife, about women who had been largely ignored and erased from history because as a result of their “good behaviour.” So it’s not a “BAD GIRLS DO IT WELL” kind of quote; it’s a reminder to respect and pay attention to the women who go about quietly living their lives.
Reminder that Ulrich is a Mormon!
That’s exactly why I posted this lol
A mormon walks in: actually☝️ at least four because-
I drove by a church the other day that called itself The Rock Church/Church of the Rock (don't remember which). I don't know what that means, but I'd like to think that there are also a Church of the Scissors and a Church of the Paper out there too, and that every so often they all get together and have wholesome Rock, Paper Scissors tournaments.
Nobody correct me on this, I just want to be silly today.

@argumate
the funniest song to sing with a primary spanning the full range of possible ages is "i hope they call me on a mission." i was already my full adult height of 5'8 before i aged out of primary. growing a foot or two from there would be pretty unusual
You’ll never guess what appeared in this “Internet Mysteries” video I was watching.
Me when a non Mormon gets hung up on a basic part of our theology
I feel the need to add that I’m am not making fun!!! I realize our theology is deeply weird!
But there is something funny about mentioning “yeah so Satan and Jesus are brothers” as an aside about something else while your friend is like “WOAH back up I beg your finest pardon” and you just have to be like “yeah yeah the time knife, not the point right now”
i do have to wonder if other similar (smaller) denominations have Tumblr communities. is there a Seventh Day Adventist tumblr? is there a JWblr? or is it just us Mormons floating around in the void

So grateful to live in a world where everything sad will eventually come untrue.
im a little surprised that it's taken this long given how pokemonpilled i am but i did finally get my wires crossed and mix up "president oaks" with "professor oak." FORTUNATELY it was not in live conversation i think i would've died on the spot
Lust is not premarital sex, masturbation, or sexual thoughts. The sin of lust is rape, sexual assault, pedophelia.
Wrath is not being angry at someone when they harm you, or wanting truly evil people to be laid low. The sin of wrath is murder, racism, xenophobia.
Gluttony is not enjoying eating, even when you are full, or feasting with friends in celebration even to excess. The sin of gluttony is taking when others have nothing, eating while others starve, consuming while others waste away.
Sin is not enjoying in the pleasures and good things that God made for us to experience, but rather twisting those goods to be evil.
just watched a video from a Franciscan monk about how to give a good confession (because i'm curious) and he gave some really good advice.
i have some pretty bad memory issues that i've dealt with for as long as i can remember (pun intended) and i struggle a lot with repentance because i can't remember anything that i've done, much less done wrong. i don't talk about this often because it's one of those shortcomings that i'm guilty about.
anyways this guy said "if you struggle with remembering what to confess, think about the 10 commandments and see how you're measuring up to all of them." it's so easy and obvious; i have no idea how i didn't think of it (or get told it) already. i think it's a really great starting point for me -- plus, actually taking the time to go through the numbers can help calm my brain enough to remember other things i should repent of.

Tumblrstake, I was talking to my institute teacher and he was talking about old views on something that's become normal in the church now. It was completely bewildering to me that someone could think PLAYING CARDS could be against our moral standard, even non-casino type games. Hello??? Was that normal a couple decades ago, is it still normal?
Beliefs on Playing Cards
I grew up being taught they're bad and people around me still think that now
I grew up being taught they're bad but very few/noone around me still believe it
I didn't grow up being taught they're bad at all
Didn't grow up in the church/results
Comments or reblogs with further explanations are very welcome!
"I am the Sword of God" is like easily top 10 things to declare immediately before doing something really stupid that will probably injure you
