A paper created by a young man named Hawthorne before he was sent to jail for breaking and entering and thievery.
ᝰ🖋️
The Sister Island, as told by a young historian who is technically gathering information illegally.
Yes, you read that title correctly, but the people deserve to know the truth! My name is Hawthorne of Floras, and i did break into the palace to get some of this information.
Where to start, where to start.. ah, just a basic summary of what the Sister Island is! (Or was)
There were two kingdoms, one named Floras, which, as you can probably tell, had lots of flowers. Flower fields stretch far and wide, ranging from the deepest caves to the coldest mountains, you can find flowers anywhere. The abundance of flowers caused a species of nymph to pop up, the Anthousai, (Flower nymph- in greek).
They looked human in many ways, body structure, eyes, nose, and the leaves and petals that make up their “hair”. There were some differences though, such as green skin, antlers, a lack of outward ears, hooves, and the ability to use magic.
Now, how do we use magic? We have plant magic, which means we can grow plants really quickly. This is very useful for making medicine or buildings or construction or.. splitting a whole island in half. The way this magic is used is by having a part of your body connected to the ground, whether it be your hooves, your fingertips, or even something silly like your nose!
Magic flows through your veins, and then connects to streams of water in the dirt. This magic-touched water is sucked into the plant you focus on, allowing you to control it. For most mages, it takes a lot of focus to do this, but for the most powerful ones, it can be quick and easy. It just takes a lot of practice.
Sorry, sorry. You know that already, i shouldn’t have taken up paper like that haha! Anyway, anyway. Back to the other side of the island.
Do you live near the great ravine? Have you glimpsed what lay on the other side, the wasteland? Have you glanced down into the ravine before your mother pulls you back, seeing the purple vines that reach down farther than you imagine the earth can ever go?
There was once a kingdom there, a kingdom named Pression. It was home to humans. Yes! Humans used to live here too! And we were friends!.. Until they started polluting everything.
The kingdom of Pression was made of gears and smog and gas and metal and sweat and tears and bodies and bones and oil. The oldest records say people starved on the streets of the towns, begging for money or food. Ive also read that to enter the palace, you have to figure out multiple puzzles. That was only if there were no guards of royalty around, of course!
There were mines that stretched underground for miles, leading from the far west of the island to deep east into territory of Floras. The mining of resources down there was so vast, people would live in the mines for months of years and then have the money they earned shipped to their families.
I wish i could visit Pression back in its prime. Of course, I’m not sure my lungs would be able to handle the bad air there. (And they wonder why there was so much disease!)
It was also a city of innovation. They made robots and toys and all kinds of machines that could move on their own! They made metal legs and arms for people who had lost their own, which would work with a simple turn of a gear! (But only if you had enough money to afford a new limb.. yeesh!)
Lets get back to the pollution part. In the Humans quest for innovation, they started polluting the rivers and fields and animals that lived there. The people of Floras did not like this at all.
We had a very young king at the time. An angry, ambitious king named Oleander. His mother, the previous ruler of Floras, had grown ill and died due to the humans pollution.
This was not an excuse for his actions, but a reason behind them. Instead of calling a meeting with the people of Pression and asking them to stop, he charged into their kingdom with horses and swords and spears and fire.
The troops marched through every town, skewering Humans on their swords, no matter how young or old they were. Once it was done, they threw flames to the houses and churches and markets, making sure there was no trace. The only people they weren’t able to kill were ones that fled into the mines of the kingdom.
An torn letter from a long-dead war veteran, written to his love about the horrors of the genocide.
“My love, Zinnia.
I have committed horrible acts here, in Pression. Ive had to watch childrens eyes grow dull and lifeless due to my own blade. Ive watched mothers and fathers beg and cry for us to spare their babies and parents. Ive watched running people be torn apart by our raptors. Ive seen people lay dead on the streets, due to their own hands, before we even reached them.
I dont know how i’ll be able to bear looking into our sons eyes after-“
Oleander made a disgusting choice, but he did pay for it. After killing most humans that lived in Pression, he called one of the most powerful mages in the kingdom, and told her to split the land in two, to cast away Pression forever. The mage could not say no to the king. Her name was Datura. If you’re wondering where those purple vines came from, those came from Daturas veins. Literally.
She was standing at the border between the two kingdoms, with a few guards and king Oleander watching her. She focused and dug her hooves into the dirt, her magic connecting with the earth. She was able to partly split the island in half, but not fully.
She wasnt able to sever the two kingdoms because the extreme amount of magic flowing out from her body into the earth caused her to literally explode and evaporate everyone around her in a burst of light, leaving behind only her nervous system and a husk of her form. The purple vines became a toxic, poisonous substance that released gases that made you sick if you breathed it in.
So, thats the origin of why we have a giant ravine splitting our island, why you’ve never heard of Pression or the Sister Island, and why our maps are always cut off, painted over, or black out.
They dont want you to know about this, they want to cover up their mistakes, but i think you deserve to know this. Everyone deserves to know this.

If you were to guess where Floras Island is geographically, where would it be? What sorts of plants, animals, etc. live there?
It crashed while typing this put AUGH. Lets retry this.
Ooh! *flower blooms on the tip of my nose* I’m so happy you want to know! /ref
For geography, it’d probably sit between the indian and southern oceans. The top part of the island is very mountainous, the coast is made up of beaches and cliffs, and the in between is covered in hills and caves and forests and fields!
There are lots of plants here, mainly flowers of course, which is where the island got its current name! Theres also lots of vines and trees, ranging from pine to palm!
For animals, its mainly what you’d find in the rest of the world, just with some bigger bugs. Theres also small dromeosaurs and troodontids, aswell as pterosaurs, because i wanted there to be.

Chrysanthemum woke up to silence. The nights were quiet here, so unlike her home. She sat up, glancing at the clock.
1:00 AM.
So, not much sleep, like usual. It was hard to sleep in a place like this. Maybe a walk would help. Santhi turned out of her bed and walked down the stairs, which creaked softly each step.
She opened her door and stepped out, not bothering to lock it back. The locks didn’t even work anyway. Her nightdress didn’t help much with the midnight chill. Santhi had been sewing her own clothes for the past two months, thankfully she didn’t need much.
The island was so small. You could look one direction and see water. You could look the other direction and see water. Sure, her home was an island too, but much larger than this. It was more real.. everything in the garden looked so artificial.
Santhi began to walk down towards the beach. The beach filled her with hope, knowing that there are other real islands and continents out there. Islands with people who could help her, someday.
Elizabeth’s laughter echoed throughout the garden as she slowly but surely swirled around Santhi like a flying cow in a tornado on its way to Oz before landing in front of her.
She shoved past Elizabeth, trying to continue her walk.
Realizing that “Cozbi” had been Elizabeth had made everything worse for Santhi. Apparently she wasn’t here for some complicated evil reason, she was just here because Liz didn’t want her to leave. At least “Cozbi” knew when to shut up.
Her eyes widened for a moment, before hiding it with a glare.
“I thought you didn’t want us to leave.”
She turned away from Elizabeth. She knew that the goddess couldn’t be trusted- you could tell that by just looking at her. But, then again, this could be Santhi’s only chance of freedom-
“You need to read it first? Wow, maybe you don’t wanna get off as much as I thought you did. I’m promising you a way out! And I NEVER break a contract.”
She glanced over to Aurelias house for a moment, wondering if she would be offered a contract. Santhi had no idea how old Aurelia was, but they were kind of friends now.
But why the contracts? Why would Elizabeth not let me read it? There must be something else on there.
She held out the clipboard in one hand, and a pen in the other. A bit of the contract was visible, but it seemed to be weird… not surprising.
