Day 24/30 of 30/30 challenge
24/30 I wrote this prose piece with influences from my Day 2 piece. The world is so big when you are a kid, but the confinement of education creates rivals from neighbors, mal-nutritious diet plans (of chicken nuggets or pizza) and teacher’s pets (the worlds first experience in brown-nosing). You learn playground politics and extortion firsthand through twinkie tariffs by bi-partisan bullies and popular class presidents. School bells and fire drills get you used to the loud ringing noise, like bombs dropping or bullets whizzing by your head, and you pretend. You play like a war hero, aiming your boom-stick toward your enemies, unaware that they started as your neighbors.
