    — ❝ You may think it sounds like I’m being extremely over-dramatic, but -- oh, jesus. Alright. Fine. You win. We’ll wait for him to show up and you can see for yourself. ❞

Chris tried to hide the snort, but failed hard in doing so. “You were already looking a damn mess, that day! You’re lucky I saved your ass from a disaster, that’s all I’m gonna say.”

   — ❝ Shut up. You’re the one who gave me the “you’re always beautiful” speech.  ❞ Christine huffed, crossing her arms before she allowed herself a small smile. ❝ But... thanks for having my back. Think, by any chance, you can have it again on Halloween?  ❞

    ➳ ❝ Pretty sure he could kill someone? What exactly does he do here? I’m almost curious now. I want to see how much yelling is a lot.

    ➳ ❝ He sounds lovely. Does he shout or is it something more terrifying?

    — ❝ Both. He shouts a lot and I’m pretty sure he could kill someone. But he mostly just shouts. A lot. Trust me, it’s not worth subjecting yourself to that. ❞

    ➳ ❝ I can’t help but notice it’s not time for me to be awake yet.

     — ❝ Listen, any other day, I’d just let you sleep on, but we’ve got rehearsals today and Orion’ll be here any minute. Trust me when I say you do not want that to happen. ❞

    ➳ ❝ Well I find your lack of faith disturbing, so we’re even I guess.

    — ❝ We’re hilarious. ❞

Chris cackled at the confession of her being scared of him. The fact that anyone would be scared of the lady clown just amused him. “You have a point. ..Are you really scared of me, though?” He asked, cracking another dimple to dimple grin.

    — ❝ Oh, come on, I always have good points. And don’t play with me, Chris. I haven’t forgotten your reaction that day I had the audacity to leave my place without wearing makeup, ❞ Christine warned, coughing into her arm. ❝ Stop smiling like that! This is a tragedy. ❞

    ➳ ❝ Oh come on, don’t give up too quickly. We’ve got time. Maybe if I had some vitamin c drops.

     — ❝ I find your optimism disturbing. ❞

“Oo. Nuh-uh. I know you did not just give me attitude. You need to check yourself before you start checkin’ me.”

    — ❝ You may scare me, Chris, but if you’re sassing me, I’m sassing you. That’s the single unspoken term of our relationship. ❞

“Were you born with cotton in your ears? You sound like a girl. I sound like a toad.”

     — ❝ Stop trying to make me feel better, Chris, it’s not working. ❞

➸ Christine bit her bottom lip when the woman spoke French, suddenly drawing a blank on essentially all of her high school French classes. She cleared her throat before speaking again, resisting the urge to roll her eyes at the awful sound it made. ❝ Well, it’s worth a shot. Let’s try. Where’s the tea? ❞
