Unfortunately I moved out of frame when setting in the initial skin tones, so missed that magic, but you can see layering shading, hair, dog etc. Oh! Omg, « Take A Seat » opens tomorrow! I don’t have official installation shots yet, so here are some behind-the-scenes (and behind-the-rolls) shots from installation day last week, including a dazed yours truly and two big pieces freshly hung in the not-yet-lit gallery. (How many hyphens do you think I can include in an Instagram post?) « Women in Rolls » installation will be on interactive display. Also some big pieces— « Hold », a life size new painting, and « By Evening », a life size older painting. So happy to be a part of this show. “Step Into My Office (Innana-Frances)” is on view for one more week @spoke_art in SF as part of their “12x12” group show. I am inspired by Frances Mcdormand’s work, and her Oscar acceptance speech was amazing. I drew on a little symbolism from the goddess Innana (also known as Ishtar and Ishtar-Innana in different variations and cultures) for a pagan sainthood for the #francesmcdormand. Need to consider my words about this little offshoot from my pumpjack paintings in the “Phenomenon” project, but in this case, the images came before the words (nothing unusual for me). So, more to come...

Palette layers. I rarely clean them off. Watercolors can last forever, and these open palette formats make for more interesting, sometimes unexpected color combinations. Paint straight from the tube pretty much never shows up in my work.

Working on photographing some pieces from the recent work i did about our intersection with oil. I did these at my artist residency in Nov. They’ll be up for a couple days in the @tulsaartistfellowship building - studios 219 and 218.
