Finished Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson, 1881-83, the fun and enjoyable seminal summary of all things pirate & adventure, the legacy still alive today. Although almost no publication has illustrations, Stevenson actually took great care of them as part of the storytelling: FT Merrill & Georges Roux eventually did the honours (though Stevenson was worried about Roux’s “French faces”).
