Settled on focusing on Miku for now, since I am feeling pretty burnt out on Zelda (and still a bit heart broken, tbh).

Decided to make it fun with *latex and sequins*

What the fuck am I doing to myself, even PRETENDING I might have a second costume done by Halloween. HAAAA

So, instead I am leisurely planning the Miku ver. I was saving for Sakura Con 2019. This is the 10th anniversary Taito prize toy design. April, the other half of 66B, got me the statue while she was in Tokyo 😍 I look at it on my desk at work every day!

Preliminary plans:

White wig/pony tail clips, ombre dye the teal/pink

I bet I could find proper ombre tights?

Make some part of the costume extra glittery! (Maybe the black??)

Gold instead of yellow for the stars

Look up if anybody has successfully used wire/some other sculpting method to make her hair flow out and not just limply hang there

Tuxedo jacket - take in the front so it can sit open and not look floppy

Make sleeves full length to hide tattoos

 Sleeveless blouse with a pointed hem

Puffiest loli skirt and most perfect poofy bows

Make the gold details on the coat tails WAY FANCIER than just dots

Cool embroidery?

Lose about....5-10 more pounds by April.

Not super stoked on the idea of custom dip dyeing the purple fabric, may find something suitable to order

I was really hoping I’d have already started this one by now so I’d have it done by Halloween, but it’s not looking optimistic. So, depending on how things are looking, I want to make the Sweet Pumpkin ver. of Hatsune Miku.

I was really excited for the newer Trick or Miku ver. of her (because the braids are too great), but the shorts do that puffy Ouji thing and I sort of hate it :V

Also, imo capes don’t look as cool irl.

Some changes I’d make to Sweet Pumpkin are:

Get rid of the ugly balloon skirt and make it into a proper loli silhouette

Add long sleeves matching the purple fabric on the bodice

Use the same purple fabric to create an underskirt to attach the embroidered candy patter on the bottom.

Full tights instead of OTKs

As always, some heels instead of flat shoes

When I make changes like the length of sleeves/socks, it’s to hide my tattoos more easily so I don’t have to stress about makeup. It’s also why I choose costumes that cover up most of the skin!

This is the pattern I am planning on using as a base, 

I’ve already blown way too much money on a failed costume--so it’ll be another paycheck before I can justify buying the supplies--but the next plan is Zelda’s royal gown from Breath of the Wild. A few of my favorite cosplayers have already tackled this with such perfection, that I want to come up with a way to make mine really *pop*. 

Sort of like how Hannah Éva made her version extra regal with the gold embellishments and velvet fabric.

I don’t have any ideas yet other than definitely using gold and not yellow ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The plus side of my failed project is that it was ALSO Zelda, so I already have her wig/ears/make-up/some pieces of this costume ready. Noice.
