She walked in, wearing jeans and a pink baby tee, eyes puffy, heart heavy, carrying the weight of a love that betrayed her. I, on the other hand, sat there in my maxi dress and stilettos, a picture of the peace she longed for. Happily married to my bestfriend, settled, with two wonderful kids who filled my days with laughter and love.

She sat down, her fingers trembling around the coffee cup, worry etched into her face. "Will I be okay?" she asked, voice barely above a whisper. I smiled. "You worked abroad, built a life you never thought possible, and provided for the family who means everything to you."

Her eyes searched mine for reassurance. "But... will I make them proud?" I reached across the table and held her hands. "They already are. They always have been."

Tears fell freely now, not just for the heartbreak she carried, but for the mother she lost to cancer and the father still fighting his battle. I pulled her into a hug, letting her feel the warmth of the future she was walking toward.

"You are stronger than you know," I whispered. "And one day, you'll sit here again, and realize everything turned out just the way it was meant to be."
